Mercury

•Mercury is only the second hottest planet even it is the closest to the sun
•Mercury does not experience any seasons
•Mercury has no moons or rings
•Mercury has a very thin atmosphere
•Mercury's core was debated by scientists on whether it is solid or liquid.But because of the
bouncing of radio waves they were able to determine that it is liquid.

Venus
•Venus is the second brightest natural object in the sky
•Sometimes referred as the morning star and evening star
•One day on venus is longer than Earth's one year
•Named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty
•The atmospheric pressure of Venus is 92 times stronger than Earth's
Earth
•The Earth's name came from the old english word ''ertha'' meaning ground or land
•The rotation of the earth is gradually slowing down
•Earth has a very powerful magnetic field
•The highest point found on earth is Mount Everest(8.8km height) The lowest point on Earth is
called the Challenger Deep (10.9km)below sea level
•The gravity between the Earth and the moon causes the tides on Earth
Mars
•Named after the Roman god of war
•Home to the tallest of mountains in the solar system
•Pieces of Mars have been found to earth
•The surface gravity of Mars is about 37% the gravity found on Earth. This means that on Mars you
could in theory jump 3x higher than you could on Earth.
•There are signs of liquid water on Mars
Jupiter
•Jupiter has the shortest day among all the planets (9hours and 55minutes)
•Jupiter has a faint ring system around it
•jupiter has atleast the 67 moons satellite around the planet
•Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is an enormous storm that has been raging for over 300 years. This storm
is so wide that three Earth’s would fit inside of it.

Saturn
•The most common nickname for saturn is the ringed planet
•Saturn is the flattest among all the planets
•Saturn has 150moons and smaller moonlets
•Saturn can be seen with the naked eye (binoculars and small telescopes)
•Saturn's rings are made up of billions of particles that range in size from tiny dust grains to an
object as large as mountains
Uranus
•A collision may have caused the unusual tilt of Uranus
•Uranus is often reffered to as the ice giant
•Uranus has 13presently known rings
•Uranus has two sets of very thin dark coloured rings
•Uranus hits the coldest temperatures of any planets
Neptune
•Its position was determined using mathematical predictions
•Neptune has 14 known moons
•Neptune is the roman god of the sea
•Neptune spins very quickly on its axis because it does not have any solid body
•One of the largets storm that has been recorded was its great dark spot which lasted about five
years
Pluto
•It took sunlight over 3 hours to reach the New Horizons mission flying to Pluto.
•Sunlight on Pluto has the same intensity as moonlight on Earth.
•Pluto is smaller than many moons.
•Pluto and its moon Charon form a binary system
•It takes Pluto 246.04 Earth years to orbit the Sun.
