Monthly Meeting
January 11, 2016

The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Cauthen, at 5:30 pm, with prayer led by David
VanWilliams.

There were candidates present at the meeting to share their platform for the upcoming election on March
1st. Agnes Chappell Place 23 and Don Mosley a representative for Chuck Price.

The Birmingham Police were on hand to share their report and take concerns from the residents of
Inglenook. There is a drug problem at 4966 50th Ave North cars parking on both side of the street. There
is illegal dumping on 40th Avenue near Inglenook Gardens apartment. Dial 911 or 311 to report this
problem with information to arrest these people car type, tag number. We are still needing cameras in our
community to see the person that is dumping in our community.

There is not enough police coverage for the Inglenook community this is a problem that has been
reported to the Mayor and Police Chief.

There is a plan to attend the Tarrant City Council meeting and share our concerns for that area near and
between Tarrant.

Ms. Scarborough will reach out to her colleagues to see what else can be done. Mr. Cooper with Storm
Water Department is available to assist with Neighborhood Clean Up. There is a new updated 311
program please call them for assistance with your concerns.

On Tuesday, January 12th the Mayor will be having the State of the City of Birmingham at Willow Park on
Georgia Road at 5:30 pm

Mr. Cooper and Thomas Miller Storm Water presentation the water shed covers 44 miles in the City of
Birmingham. Storm Water is water that falls off your roof, street sewer all water floods to Village Creek
and travels to the Mobile Bay.

Every citizen is paying $5 on their property tax next year this amount will increase to $10 to assistance
with the storm water program. There is a project underway to replace concrete drain covers to hard
plastic covers that will not break.

The only thing that needs to go down the drain is rain. Only Rain Down the Drain. To depose of your
cooking oil there are containers you can receive from some fire department and they will take care of
deposing of old oil.

Ms. Sandra Womack, Director for Inglenook Recreation Center introduced David Warren with the
Birmingham Outlawz Football organization. There were over 4000 people that visited the recreation
center for the month of December.

Mr. Warren introduced youth football program that will be at the recreation center. This program will
include an education program to assistance children with improving their grades tutors will work with the
students at the center.
This program now includes the basketball program that is already at the recreation center the age group
is from 8 to 12 years old. This program will be citywide, but Inglenook will be the headquarters for the
program.
Inglenook Library will start computer classes in March see Ms. Williams at the Inglenook library the
classes will be for 1 hour. The classes will include base keyboarding, task bars.

The minutes for November will be included in the February meeting notes.

Hezekiah Jackson, NAACP president contact us about EPA wanting to come into the Inglenook
community to discuss pollution in our area. If this happen this will make your property valve decrease. We
do not want this to happen in Inglenook more information will be discussed on this issue.
