Strawberry Shortcake Hat

Materials needed:

Crochet hook H or I

Tapestry needle

Red Heart Super Saver - Baby Pink

Red Heart Super Saver – White

Red Heart Super Saver – Spring Green

Red Heart Super Saver – Lt. Raspberry

Guage : 12 HDC = 3”, 6 rows = 3”

Abbreviations : ch = chain, sc = single crochet, dec = decrease, hdc = half double crochet, sl st =
slip stitch.

Hdc dec = yarn over insert hook into next stitch yarn over pull back thru stitch, insert hook into
next stitch yarn over pull back thru> 4 loops on hook, yarn over pull thru all 4 loops. I believe
this is different than most hdc dec. But I do not like the bulkiness of the whole stitch.
All rounds are joined with a slip stitch.

Infant

0 to 12 months -With Crochet hook H: (I hook can be used to get a bit bigger of size)

Ch 5, sl st in 1st ch to form a ring.

Round 1 – ch 1, 15 hdc in ring, join to 1st hdc (15)

Round 2 – ch 1, 2 hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, join (30)

Round 3 – ch 1, 2hdc in same st, *1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next stitch* repeat from * around,

Brim

With Crochet hook H and 2 strands of green

Attach 16 stitches from the back of the hat so you can work to the left

Row 1 – ch 1(counts as 1st sc), *2sc in next st, 1 sc in next st*, repeat from* for a total of 19
stitches, sl st in next st, ch 1 turn

Row 2 – Back Loop Only – sc across, sc in next white st, sl st in next, ch 1 turn

Row 3 – sl st across ending in the bottom of the last green stitch of row 1, fasten off weave in
ends.

Make green Pom Pom attach to top of hat.

Using Lt. Raspberry and yarn needle make “spots” in various locations tie securely on the inside
of hat.
