This is the final assessment of modules stated above. However, there are a few students
who registered late for module 6213 Organizational Behaviour in Education, this
examination is their second assessment. Their third and final assessment will be on the
16th of October 2010. Dr. K. Rajalingam will administer the assessment.

This examination constiture 30% of the course grade. As you are aware the first test
(Case Analysis) was 40%, and the second test was 30%. The three assessments
constitute 100%.

The final date of submission for this examination is October 18, 2010. Answer papers
received after the said date will not be graded.

EPE 6123; EPE 6153; EDE 6423; EPE 6213

SEMESTER JUNE – NOVEMBER 2010

Instruction:
There are four sections in this examinations. These are Sections A, B, C and D.
Students must answer two questions from Section A, and one each from Sections
B, C and D. Altogether five questions to be attempted.

All questions carry equal marks. The focus is on the substance, style and approach.
Before attemting any question understand carefully the issues raised and write what
is asked and not what you know.

SECTION A (40%)

1. There are several models of academic governance suitable for application to


institutions of higher education. Which model do you think the most logical and
practical. State reasons to support your choice.

Ada beberapa model pengurusan sesuai dan praktik bagi institusi pengajian
tinggi. Model manakah and fikir paling logik dan praktik sebagai pilihan anda.
Beri alasan untuk menyokong pilihan anda itu.

2. Robert L. Katz (1982) identified three basic skills common to different levels of
manager. These skills are technical, human and conceptual. With the help of
diagrams explain clearly the points raised by aitz.

pengurus. Kemahiran-kemahiran ini ialah technical, human dan conceptual.

3. If you were a supervisor over a group of subordinates working in an organization


explain your roles as the processes of supervisory management.

Jika anda seorang penyelia ke atas satu kumpulan orang bawahan bekerja
dalam sebuah organisasi nyatakan peranan anda yang berupa proses
penyeliaan pengurusan.

SECTION B (20%)

4. Starling (1977) identified several steps he considered as basic in planning.


Discuss in detail every step he suggested with examples to support your points.

Starting (1977) kenal pasti beberapa peringkat yang disebutnya sebagai asas
dalam perancangan. Bincangkan secara terperinci tiap-tiap peringkat ini dengan
memberikan contoh untuk menguatkan alasan anda.

5. It is quite common for a leader of an organization or a certain section of the


organization to face grievances or dissatisfaction from subordinates. Suggest
strategies to avoid such dissatisfaction.

Adalah menjadi kebiasaan bagi seseorang ketua organisasi atau sebahagian


dari organisasi berhadapan dengan pekerja bawahan yang tidak berpuas hati.
Cadangkan strategi untuk mengelakkan berlakunya rasa tidak puas hati ini.

SECTION C (20%)

6. In what way Herzberg’s study of motivation of workers is different from that of


Maslow and McGregor. State clearly the elements that Herzberg considered as
motivators and those as hygiene factors.

Apakah perbezaan di antara motivasi oleh Herzberg dengan pengajian motivasi
oleh Maslow dan McGregor. Sebutkan dengan jelas elemen-elemen yang
Herzberg sebut sebagai faktor memotivasi (merangsang) dan faktor yang
menghalang motivasi.

7. Explain the relationship between motivation and job performance. How could a
leader motivate his workers in an organization.

Terangkan pertalian di antara motivasi dengan pencapaian kerja. Bagaimana


seseorang ketua itu boleh motivasi para pekerja dalam organisasi.

SECTION D (20%)

8. The definition of image is rather subjective. Explain in detail what is generally


meant by image and what is corporate image. Suggest strategies to build positive
image of an organization.

Imej boleh diberikan pelbagai definisi. Terangkan dengan jelas apakah yang
dimaksudkan dengan imej secara umum dan imej korporat. Cadangkan strategi
membina imej sesebuah organisasi.

9. Organization excellence could be achieved through intelligent manipulation of


strategies. If you were heading an organization how would you achieve
excellence in your organization.

Kecemerlangan organisasi boleh dicapai menerusi kebijaksanaan memanipulasi


strategi. Jika anda mengetuai sebuah organisasi bagaimana anda mengatur
strategi untuk mencapai kecemerlangan organisasi anda.
