Radiology represents a branch of medicine that deals with radiant energy (energy that
travels by waves or particles) in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
This field can be divided into two broad areas – DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY &
INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY.
RADIOLOGIST
A medical doctor who specializes in
diagnosing and treating disease and
injury through the use of medical imaging
techniques such as x-rays, computed
tomography (CT), etc.
Diagnostic radiology is the field of medicine that uses imaging exams and
procedures to diagnose a patient
• X-ray Radiography,
• Ultrasound,
• Computed Tomography (CT),
• Nuclear Medicine Including Positron
Emission Tomography (PET), And
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
• x-rays

Fluoroscopy
Unlike CT scans, which use X-rays, MRI scans use powerful magnetic fields and
radio frequency pulses to produce detailed pictures of organs, soft tissues, bone
and other internal body structures.
