Foreword
I was looking through my books, I found a book a young thirteen years old boy wrote in the
time he was in the eight grade of high school. I saw the book with a lot of pictures draw by
him or his class mate. He had a boarding newspaper at that time and the student loved to
read his articles. The first short story he wrote was escape from darkness. I try to translate
this book for you here, may be it is interesting. My wife said; it is very interesting. As a boy
about fifty year ago wrote a book about his interest and his thinking.
Please, consider that these short stories that I try to translate are written by a child and not
by an adult.
The start and end of a man who loses. Adolph Hitler as some writers wrote was a person with
a lot of problems so he was a simple worker and a painter, he could not have a nice place to
live and he was failed as he could not pass the exam for a college for painting. But he has not
been attracted to the Communist party as many poor and young people are attracted, but he
loved his country and his people and he thought that the people who are living in his land, are
the best in the world and they should have a better life. But he after wrote the book of my
fight, and after he got the power may be changed totally and now he want to kill people and
destroy part of the world. The simple man was now a powerful personality and could do what
ever he wanted. Many people loved him and obeyed him as he was their leader. Now he was
not a normal man, he was very selfish and very proud and may be he thought that he is
something like God and he thought the people should worship him.
He wanted all the generals in the army are under his control and he did not have any classical
military study, he tried to learn that or part of their knowledge and he wore a uniform like a
general. The society guide him in this way, like Napoleon who had read as a child or young
man the book of the life of important men, so Hitler also read some books about the
successful personalities. He did not like France as French people won the war
against Germany and he feel; he should revenge this lost from the French people. He thought
the French and English people are the enemies of German. He wanted the Paris be in his hand;
he had this thinking as a young man and now he was powerful and wanted to get his dreams
done. He thought the French General like Napoleon with their huge uniform and beautiful ones
will stay in front of him like a mountain. But now the time for beautiful expensive uniform was
over , now his soldier had simple uniform in which they can move much easier as the heavy
nice past uniforms. The beautiful uniform is now used for parties and official ceremonies and
not for the battle field any more.
Hitler thought as he was a young simple man that one day he will be rich and powerful and
will govern the whole world, Hitler was intelligent in his way, but he was also very proud and
selfish and may be these two points destroyed him totally. He failed and won many time , but
he was not so clever to consult the situation with other people, and that is a very negative
point of any dictator, that they think they are much better than every body. In the time they
got power, they forget totally that they can make mistakes and they cannot manage their
mistakes any more. The power and may be the force of the people who admire him/her too
much will blind them. That story is the mirror of the last power dictator of our time, that one
day the whole world andEurope know him, but now he is dead and forgotten and nobody say a
good world about him. That is the end of dictatorship and selfishness. His cruel way of killing
his opposition and destroy anybody who did not admire him, took him also to the miserable
end. May all dictators should read his story and learn how they should live and handle the
matter. He killed the people who were against him, but some people flee from his darkness.
And escape to other countries and stated to fight with him. Escape from the darkness of the
war that he started.
Napoleon wanted the same thing, he wanted the whole world and after that he wanted peace,
may Hitler had the same idea, he wanted to govern the whole world and after he has the
whole world , he wish the peace. But the people did escape from the darkness of war and they
wanted to live in the light of love and freedom and peace. That is a story I wrote with my
knowledge about the world, but I think it is close to the reality. I think that is the society to
give the permission and train the people like Hitler. It is the fault of all of us that we allow
such people like Hitler be in the power. You know that very poor people if they get a very high
position for which they are trained for, they can make a lot of mistake. Why the people should
have so much suffer, that in the time they have possibilities destroy the people by the hate
they had from childhood? I think if the society give possibilities to everybody, the people like
Hitler will not grow and be successful. The people who hate other people , because they had a
hard time in the past and now they want to revenge their difficulties and their hard time from
the people. Why the love and unity should die and hate should grow and be alive.
First Part
The night was cold and very dark no moon was in the sky, it was hidden under the cloths. The
world was waiting for a huge problem. People know that the fire is started and soon will burn a
lot of people. German attacked and won in some battle and they were preparing themselves
for more attacks. France was captured by Hitler and Hitler was a beloved person
in Germany and his pictures were everywhere in a nice uniform and in a excellent position. The
French people were in sleep and they did not know that their enemy is now huge and
powerful; they were proud of their last won and were sure that they are strong enough, but
soon their beautiful land was captured by the German soldiers. General Do gull and his little
army tried to fight against Hitler with the help ofBritain. The Nazi armies with their huge war
machine were coming to France and no city could fight against them. Everywhere was full of
smoke, fire and blood. The children and women or pregnant women were running to the
village to be safe of German soldiers. The huge armies of German continue to come in and the
children were afraid from this situation and they did not know what to do. Their fathers were
killed and their mother could not support them. The war does not understand the language of
children.
The flag of German and the Nazi symbol were moving by the winds everywhere the German
present there. The German Canon were continue it ways and killed who ever was in their
front. The German soldier came and captured Paris the beautiful city of France. The French
people who were drunk were moving on the streets as they do not know what has happened.
They thought may be the God will punish them as they were bad people and drink too much.
They prayed that the God should forgive them, but the war continue and destroy their
country. The dream of the young Hitler now was a reality and Hitler who was no about fifty
years old was the conquer of Paris.
Paris the beautiful city of beautiful women and nice places and nice girls now was under Hitler
control. The beautiful pregnant women who lost their lovers or men were crying and the city of
literature and fine arts now was like a red burned iron. The people were very upset and they
thought they are dreaming, some of them were laughing and crying in the same time. The
border between laughing and crying was broken. This makes a lot of people creasy. If you lose
all you have and even the death is flying above you, you get some how creasy. The war was
eating the France and the eagle of Germany was trying to keep the country under his wings.
Everywhere the shadow of war was present. The huge fight and the name of Hitler have
frightened a lot of people of France. The churches bells were hitting loud voices and the people
were afraid and frightened everywhere. Some people thought that is a dream, but the dream
was now reality. The Paris was full of smoke fire and shooting. The land of huge writers and
artists was now under the German soldiers and officers. Who ever could escape from the
darkness of war? And Hitler dream was now a real one. He dreams as a child that he was the
emperor of the world.
The French army and their officer could not believe that Hitler is there. And they were not
ready to fight as their administration was not as good as the German one. The parties started
to be active and they tried to fight against German army. The underground activities were
organized and the French people who wanted free country gathered themselves in the places
which were far from Paris.
Henry was one of the officers of French army who was in a village in France far from Paris. His
wife was working in the city, so he went alone to the village to see his parent. Now he was
returning from the village in the hope; he will see his wife and his children, but he sees war
and fire instead. The people of Paris were in the churches and asked God to help them.

The young girl, about seventeen years old, steps firmly to the death place; Mona Mahmundizhad, one of my best
students, was persecuted in Iran (Persia), because she was Bahá'í.
The Bahá'í religion is a world religion which began in Persia. Bahá'ís believe in the oneness of God, the oneness
of religion, and the unity of mankind. Bahá'ís strive to eliminate all prejudices of race, nationality, and religion. And
Bahá'ís respect that all religions have come from the same God, in different times, to guide mankind.
The revolutionary Islamic court in Shiraz, Iran persecuted Mona, and now they wanted to perform her execution.
Mona was walking very firmly towards the place of execution without any doubt or fear. She was singing Bahá'í
songs and was walking like an angel towards her place of death. The people who were looking at this heroine were
all crying and their faces were wet with tears. The eyes of her Moslem friends were shining from the tears and their
faces were red; Mona was the only one not crying, and she was not sorry about what would happen to her in a few
minutes. The reflection of God was in her face and she was sure that what she was doing was right and correct.
The Moslem people around her were singing Moslem songs, quietly. Some of them were singing in a very low
voice while crying about this cruel situation and what would happen in a few minutes. The Bahá'ís who were there
were singing the Bahá'í songs, "Sobuhon Ghoduson Rebeana Ve Reben Malaekaten Ve Ruh" The Moslems were
singing "Alah o akbar" and the Baha'I were singing "Alláh-u-Abhá, Alláh-u-Abhá".
My friend Djalal, who was there as Mona's teacher, told me the following story in the hopes that the message of
Mona would reach the people:
"I could not believe that what I was seeing was real. She, the young girl, was so in love with God that she was
ready to be killed for Him and His glory. For her faith. And I, her poor teacher, must be there - without any power to
save her. I have to watch the execution of one of my best students; I am a helpless person and can see the
injustice to this young girl who has no crime in her life. The only crime that the so-called Islamic court could prove
was that she was Bahá'í. A young, nice, intelligent, lovely, friendly and pure girl, who should be walking to the
university to study and should have her whole life and future in front of her, was going to be executed because she
was Bahá'í. And, who had signed her document but a Moslem who must be the follower of Imam Hossein, who
was killed by Jazid in Karbella with all his family; his wife, children and even a little baby. The Jazid had cut off the
water from them; so in the hot summer day of Kerbella, these holy people had no water to drink and must fight with
these cruel people. He had been killed and for three days his body, and the bodies of his family, were left under
the hot burning sun of the Kerbella Dessert. We had always cried for his death and the cruel situation in Kerbella,
and now one of his followers had signed the death document for Mona.
"Her friends and classmates were there and were crying very bitterly; but Mona was firm and was singing with love
and joy.
"The revolution of Iran, which should have been a religious revolution and should have lead the people to God's
way, was now eating the innocent people and children. Which dirty hand in the revolution would like to paint a
black page for Islamic history? I was Moslem, my father was Moslem, and he loved all the people around him. He
always said to me, 'Djalal, you must respect all other people and their religion, and even if they have a false
religion, you must respect them so they will respect our prophet. If you say bad words about their false prophet or
god, they will do the same thing to our real and pure God." Now I was seeing the Moslems killing young, innocent
children; my students, who were like my children. I could imagine that one day they might kill my little girl and that
she must walk to her death place.
"Mona was a very good and friendly student of mine. She always helped the other students and laughed in a
friendly way with them. She liked the younger students and helped them with their homework. Her parents were
very proud of her. She was also, as I had heard, a teacher for the Bahá'í Friday school for younger students, which
was another crime the Islamic court could prove.
"Her parents were very proud of her. I, as her teacher, was there to watch her die. Helpless and poor, I could not
change this injustice and had to accept this way of cruelty. I wish that I had the power to do something more for my
beloved student than just stand there and cry. I did know that any wrong movement would mean my death also,
and I did not think my death would help my student.
"In Persia, the teacher is like a father or mother, and they love the students like their own children - so for me it
was like I was watching my own child being killed by the Islamic court. My mother, who was a Moslem believer,
said to me that she would pray for my student who was to be killed by an unjust court.
"Why should people be so cruel to each other and why should they kill each other just because they have other
thoughts or religions, which had been given to them by their parents anyway? She was like my daughter and was
very polite and friendly to me. I was very sorry to see all this happening to her and sometimes I could not believe
that what I was seeing was real. My eyes were full of hot tears, burning my skin as they ran down my face. My feet
were shivering as I saw that Mona was close to her death place. She behaved like a hero without any doubt,
sorrow or fear. She was looking firmly in front of her and her dark eyes were shining with the love of God. The
people who persecuted her could not see this love and purity. They were blind and could not see the light of God. I
did not know why the love for God that Mona was demonstrating now would not move the people that had signed
her execution. Were their hearts made of stone or did their business, money and power blind them? Why could not
the people see the light and glory of God, which was reflected by Mona?
"Mona walked to her execution place, took the execution rope, kissed it and put it around her neck. The voice of
the Moslems who were singing Moslem songs now changed to the Bahá'í song which Mona was singing. Now all
the Moslems and Bahá'ís were singing the same song. They were united in song, the Bahá'í song which Mona was
singing. All were full of sorrow and sadness. She died at 17 years of age, but her spirit and how she died, I will
never forget. I hoped that the other people that saw this would never forget. Any human being should be ashamed
to kill innocent people for their beliefs or for the beliefs of their parents.
"Many other Persian girls and boys have been killed by the Islamic Revolution Court and their only crime was that
they were Bahá'í. What could they do; as their parents were Bahá'í so they were Bahá'í also. Some of them were
my students. Why should I teach them to be killed by the Islamic court? My work was a useless work. I became
very depressed and could not teach anymore."
Djalal, my friend who was telling this story, looked in my eyes. His eyes were red because he cried so much for his
students who were killed. I could feel the warm tears on my face as well. He said, " What can we do? Only cry for
this cruelty?" Should we just sit and look at what the cruel people do as they misuse religion and humanity to kill in
the name of God the innocent boys and girls, our students? I thought God gave us a heart full of His love so that
we could love and understand each other and each other's children. But these cruel people do not use even their
simple understanding for the other people and in the name of God they kill children of God. And they claim that
they believe in God. Djalal could not teach in the schools of Iran anymore and he was so sad that I was worried he
would soon loose his mind. He said, "How can I be in the class and see the children whom I should teach? The
faces of other students who were killed are in front of me and I see in each of the other students, the face of Mona.
I cannot teach anymore and see the innocent children who could also be killed by the Islamic Court".
Djalal left me that day. I was always looking for him and I went many times to his house to visit him. The last time
that I saw him he was very depressed and his hair had turned white during those years. When I rang his bell, his
daughter opened the door. I saw her face, an Iranian girl with the same eyes and face as Mona. I saw in her face
the face of Mona. The girl invited me into the house and to her father's room. Djalal was reading a book. He saw
me and stood up to shake my hand. " You see, Amir, my girl. I saw always the face of Mona in her face. Maybe the
same situation will happen to my daughter one day and they will kill her as they killed Mona."
Djalal; we should work for a goal as Mona worked for a goal. We should work so that our children will have a nice
free country, and we should work against this cruelty. I know that maybe they will kill us too, but we must not give
up and must try. Freedom has its cost and Mona paid that cost for us. Look at history; many people have been
killed because they wanted justice, but they did not give up, they followed their ways without fear or doubt. I know
that many young people have been killed, but one day our children will enjoy this freedom. Mona did her part, and
we must do our part too.
I think, Djalal, you have been right. And I know that it is very hard for you to see all these cruel things. But we
should give the message of Mona to the whole world because they have to know what has happened. The Iranian
organizations, which call themselves organizations for humanity and human rights, should understand what they
have done to the young and innocence in the Name of God. I hope that one day the message of Mona will reach
the people who have God in their hearts and are willing to listen to the words of God. The people who can open
their hearts to God, and who are pure, will listen.
I am not a Baha'i ,but I borrowed money to one of my best Moslem friend and in respons of my help he wrote to the
government of Iran that I am a Baha'i so I have been persecuted as a Baha'i and my jobs and other belonging
have been taken from me. My sister who was married to a Baha'i told me come t here and you will have jobs and
everything. She has told me this for many years and I have sent her money to buy for me houses in the USA. Her
husband who is a Baha'i wrote to me , too.. COme here and everything will be OK. He thought I cannot come here
and Iranina government will kill me as a Baha'i , he hoped. Or I cannot come to the USA. As I was here he told me
per telephone "do not come to us if you come I will call the police" So you can see the Moslem friends, Baha'i
family and government were not nice to me. Please help me in this regard that at least the other people should not
make the same mistake that I did. Yours Amir

POEM FROM ME TO YOU ALL, TAKE CARE, ENJOY AND BE SAFE."
2. Invest in your success - Life rewards those who invest in their success. If
you're ambivalent about what you really want, you won't get what's most
important. Let what ever it is you're striving for mean something to you! Don't
stay stuck if you're not happy or making progress. Invest in your success so
you're completely passionate and motivated towards realising your dream.
Believe in your dream and you'll be invested in the creation of your success.
3. Integrity - When you have integrity, your word means something. If people
can't depend on your word, integrity's lacking. If your actions aren't aligned with
your words, a disconnect occurs; this disconnect then compromises your
integrity. Integrity is the quality of being complete and undivided; living from
"what's right." Live life so that you are always in a state of integrity.
4. Passion - Passion is that which deeply moves us. It's the fire from within
which motivates us. Passion deeply stirs us and compels us into action. Passion
gives us the ability to be touched, moved and inspired. Passion is at the core of
excellence; tap into yours and let it guide your vision!
10. Contribution - Looking back, what do you want the memories of your life to
be? Excellence isn't solely about success, measured by how much money or
notoriety we gain. Success is definitely not excellence if we've stomped on
people en route to our goals!
Excellence is about contributing our best to the world while evoking others to do
the same. It's about understanding our place and making our mark in the world,
as we attempt to make it a better place.

Linlithgow Palace
Here is my entry on Linlithgow Palace in Scotland. Originally it was a manor house built in the 12th century,
probably by David I of Scotland as he founded the former Royal Burgh of Linlithgow. However, upon Edward I of
England's invasion into Scotland, he came to Linlithgow and built a stockade around it called a 'peel', which is an
old English word for stockade, or fortress. The peel is now completely gone, but the name still remains with the
parkland surrounding the Palace and this is still called the peel. The park keeper has always been called the
"Peelie".
Some years later the manor house was destroyed in a fire, and James I began to build the Palace in 1424 after his
return from England after they stopped holding him as a prisoner. However, by the time of James I's death, only
the east range of the Palace had been built. James II, James III and James IV all continued building the Palace and
James V, who was born in the Palace on the 10th April 1512, built the current entrance to the Palace.
There is a tower in Linlithgow Palace known as 'Queen Margaret's Bower'. In 1513, Margaret Tudor, sister of Henry
VIII, wife of James IV and mother of the future James V, awaited her husband's return from the Battle of Flodden,
where he went to fight the English army. Unfortunately, he was killed and Margaret was so heartbroken that she
remarried soon after.
In 1537, James V married Madeleine of Valois, the daughter of Francis I of France in January. However, she died
later on the same year in July. James had a fountain built in Linlithgow Palace, which still functions today. James
married Mary of Guise, the daughter of Claude, Duke of Guise in June 1538. On the 8th of December 1542, James'
daughter was born in Linlithgow Palace. Her name was Mary, and she was to become Scotland's ill-fated Queen.
The Scots had lost a battle at Solway Moss, and it is believed that James suffered a nervous collapse, and as he lay
on his deathbed at Falkland Palace, he learnt of his daughter's birth and said "It came wi' a lass, it'll gang wi' a
lass." This was a reference to how the Stewart dynasty came to the throne-his ancestor, Walter Stewart, the 6th
High Steward of Scotland, who married Marjorie, the daughter of Robert I (Robert the Bruce).
Mary had now become Queen at 6 days old after her father died on the 14th of December. She was crowned months
later. During her time in France the spelling of Stewart was changed to Stuart.
After her return from France, she visited Linlithgow Palace once more. Eventually she fled to England, hoping that
her cousin and the Queen of England, Elizabeth I, would assist her. However, Elizabeth had her imprisoned for 20
years before finally having her executed.
Upon her death in 1603, Elizabeth named James VI her successor, possibly because he was her only living relation
(her grandfather, Henry VII, was James' great-great-grandfather) and she may also have felt guilty for having his
mother executed. James VI was now James I of England.
In 1607, the north range of the Palace collapsed. The Palace keeper wrote to James, asking him to pay for the north
range to be rebuilt. In 1618, James finally returned to Linlithgow Palace for the final time and agreed to rebuild the
north range. He never returned to the Palace.
In 1633, Charles I became the last monarch to stay in Linlithgow Palace, and some years later he became the first
King to be executed in Britain.
In 1745, Bonnie Prince Charlie came to Linlithgow and stayed for one night. After he left, the Duke of Cumberland's
army came to stay in the Palace and as they left to go to the Battle of Culloden, for which they arrived too late, they
left the fires in the Palace burning, and soon the entire Palace was ablaze. Since then the Palace has stayed in poor
conditions and renovation works have never been carried out on the Palace again.
Nowadays Linlithgow Palace is a popular tourist attraction, and during the summer holidays children from
Linlithgow Primary School and Linlithgow Academy volunteer as Junior Palace Guides, and they offer free tours to
tourists.
The sun is sleeping quietly
