At the beginning of fall and through the month of October, everywhere you
look the “pink ribbon” seems to stand out. The pink ribbon is a reminder of the
price many women have paid with the challenge the journey through breast cancer
has taken them. The ribbon also reminds many that they or someone they know is a
survivor in the battle against breast cancer. Unfortunately, the pin, ribbon also reminds
us of someone and the many who have lost their lives to this illness. For most it is a
reminder that, “I need to make sure and do my self breast exam this month”, or “I need to make
sure I schedule my appointment to have a mammogram done”! Whatever the pink ribbon reminds you
of; awareness should always be on the top of the list.

October should not be the only month women are reminded of the importance of good breast health or
breast cancer awareness, but each month we should remember the value of our lives and the value of
making sure how important it is to be aware. Starting this October and every month that follows, women
