INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on starting your very own path to Think and Grow Rich! You’re
taking a giant leap on the journey towards making the life you’ve dreamed of your
reality.

Think and Grow Rich is one of the most influential books of all time. It points the way
to personal achievement, financial independence, as well as to fulfillment beyond
measurement in mere money.

You won’t find any investment tips or savings advice in this program. Instead, from
“planning” to “persistence,” the topics covered in each chapter of Think and Grow
Rich are organized to help you figure out personal happiness and financial success
once and for all.

To get the most out of this course, follow along with each workbook exercise after
listening to the corresponding chapter. And remember, the philosophy of Think and
Grow Rich will prepare you to attract and enjoy these higher things in life, but only if
you are ready for them.

1
CHAPTER 1
THOUGHTS ARE THINGS
“Whatever the mind of man can conceive, and believe, it can achieve.”
- Napoleon Hill

“Thoughts are things” is about the power and importance of positive thinking. Your
brain becomes magnetized with the dominating thoughts you hold in your mind.

To begin, you’ll learn to recognize any negative thoughts pulling you back from
reaching your potential. After identifying and deconstructing your negative thinking,
you’ll work on switching your mindset to one of positivity and self-affirmation.

“You become what you think about.”

- Earl Nightingale

1. IDENTIFY YOUR NEGATIVE BELIEFS.

Deep down, do you believe that you’re not smart enough? Or, not worthy to be
rich? Use the space below to write down negative beliefs. Keep going until you find
at least one that hurts.

2
2. DETERMINE WHERE THOSE BELIEFS CAME FROM.

What evidence exists to support your negative belief—do the people around you
reinforce it? Do you feel more comfortable not trying, because you tell yourself
doing so means you won’t have to endure failure?

3
3. PICK AT LEAST ONE NEW BELIEF TO COUNTER YOUR OLD,
NEGATIVE THINKING.

What alternative beliefs would be consistent with someone who really achieves your
dream? (I am destined to create a successful business.)

4. SUPPORT YOUR NEW BELIEFS WITH EVIDENCE.

Perhaps people are eager to follow your example, your ideas are ahead of the
curve, or a past accomplishment has gotten recognition. Don’t be bashful; this is
the time to recall every compliment and achievement to build a solid foundation for
supporting your potential future.

3
5. SET YOUR COURSE.

Close your eyes and imagine what it feels like to live this belief and fulfill your dream.
Write down five specific things you will do and say that force you to live your new
affirmations.

4
CHAPTER 2
DESIRE: IT’S TIME TO FALL IN LOVE
WITH YOUR GOAL
What’s the starting point of everything that you’ll want to achieve? If you’ve finished
chapter two, you’ll know the path to success can only start once you have a specif-
ic goal in mind.

TO CLARIFY YOUR GOAL, THE FOLLOWING EXERCISES WILL HELP

YOU DETERMINE:
• What it is you desire most out of life
• Will achieving that desire be worth the cost

Write your personal answers to the following prompts before committing to your
personal action plan at the end of this section:

1. What are your goals and objectives that you want to obtain? Think
beyond your career goals, to include personal, family, community, and
spiritual goals.

5
What information do you want to know and acquire, including skills,
2. arts, and philosophies you want to master? Note which, if any, will
assist you in the goals listed above.

3. What kind of work do you want to do? Does it align with your
personal, family, community, and spiritual goals?

6
4. What kind of personality do you want to be? Is it different than how
you present yourself now?

5. What changes would you need to make to present yourself in a way

that aligns with your goals?

6. What’s the exact income you want to earn each year to achieve your
goal of financial success?

7
7. Are there examples of professionals in your current field earning
your goal?

With a better understanding of what aligns with the person you want to become, it’s
time to commit to a single, definite goal—your major purpose in life.

AN IMPORTANT CAUTION!
Should you have any doubts, push them from your thoughts. Work
regularly to keep your mind focused on the thing you want, and free
from any ideas that could weigh you down.

CHAPTER 3
APPLIED FAITH
“Faith is using your mind to ‘sense’ the powers that surround you in this
wonderful world. Then, trying to harmonize your life with those powers as
you feel them.”
- Napoleon Hill

There are many definitions of faith. But, for the purpose of understanding Think
and Grow Rich, consider faith to be opening your mind to the concept of a great,
eternal force of the universe. Applied Faith is the activity of individual minds finding
themselves and establishing a working association with that universal power.

3 STEPS TO CREATING A MINDSET OF FAITH:

Every day, set aside time for deep thought about your mental connection with
the eternal force that is Infinite Intelligence. This time should be in a minimum of
15-minute increments for no less than a total of one hour per day.

During this time:

1. Express a definite desire for the achievement of your goal. Solidify this desire by
relating your goal to one or more motives, including personal fulfillment, family
harmony, community enrichment.
2. Reiterate your definite and specific plan for attaining that goal.
3. The actions you can take towards achieving your goal today.

Call your major purposes and plans into your conscious mind often. If possible,
spend a few additional moments reflecting on your goal and the steps required to
get there first thing each morning to help set you on the path to success every day.

11
ACTIVITIES TO DEMONSTRATE ACTIVE FAITH IN YOUR GOAL

Bringing to mind your goal, the steps to reach your goal, and the immediate actions
you’ll take are an non-negotiable part of actively applying your faith every day. Use
the following prompts to find additional motivation:

Write at least nine advantages of achieving your goal:

1.

2.

3.

4.

12
5.

6.

7.

8.

REMEMBER!

Recognize that everything worth having has a definite price tag on it.
The price of self-reliance is constant vigilance in carrying out your
instructions. Your watchword must be PERSISTENCY.

13
CHAPTER 4
AUTOSUGGESTION
“Thoughts become words, words become action, and action becomes destiny.”
- Napoleon Hill

Whether doing a visual meditation or simply trying to remember to go by the grocery

store on the way home, you tell yourself things over and over to make sure the
information sticks. That same tactic of repetition can be used to create an inner
dialogue that first shapes our perception of the world around us, and then how we
interact with it.

Use the following prompts to direct your thoughts towards the dreams you’re
working to make a reality. Make one statement on each of the following topics that
will direct your mindset towards success.

FAMILY

ATTITUDE:

CAREER:

GOALS:

SKILL SETS:

FINANCE:

AMBITIONS:

REMEMBER!

To overcome distractions and keep negative thoughts from intruding,

autosuggestion should be practiced daily. It demands repetitive focus
on what you consider important.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Identifying your knowledge is the first step in compiling your personal assets.

MY GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

What personal experiences and observations have helped you attain the
specialized knowledge listed above?

How has your desire to learn new things helped you grow your specialized
knowledge?

How has your passion for achievement influenced the knowledge you’ve
already attained?

person. Also, give an example in which you have, through your attitude, influenced
someone else.

21
5. What is the most important insight you have gained through studying this
chapter? How will you apply it to your life?

22
CHAPTER 8
DECISION: THE OPPOSITE OF PROCRASTINATION
“You will have an opportunity to test your capacity to reach quick and
definite decisions when you finish reading this book, and are ready to
begin putting into action the principles which it describes.”
- Napoleon Hill

Think of a decision you’re currently facing. Now, use these prompts to practice the
decision-making skills learned from this chapter.

PROS: CONS:

What’s the reward (upside) versus the risk (downside) doing X?

23
If I do X, will it negatively impact someone else?

If I decide to do X, what steps can I take to ensure a positive result?

24
CHAPTER 9
PERSISTENCE & SELF-DISCIPLINE
Self-discipline helps one control states of mind and to think before
making decisions that have a profound effect on one’s future.
- Don M. Green

Want to develop the habits of thought and action that will enable you to fix your
entire attention upon any desired purpose—and hold it there until that purpose has
been attained? Self- discipline is perhaps the most important function that will aid
your efforts.

FILL IN THE BLANKS

List the four steps for developing self-discipline outlined in this chapter:

1. Have a definite ________________________, backed by a burning desire for its

4. A friendly with one or more who will

25
While Hill stresses the importance of persisting, Think and Grow Rich leaves out
what you should persist with. The answer, according to Jeffrey Gitomer, is perceived
value. This is defined as:

“Staying on, and or following up, with information that benefits the
prospect—not you.”

How to benefit the person you intend to follow up with? Gitomer suggests giving them:

A referral, sales lead, or positive review

An idea as to how they can serve their customers better
Ten things they could do to improve morale, productivity, absenteeism, or profit
Free publicity or media exposure

To practice persisting, think of something you want to follow-up on:

Now, before following up, think of how you’ll give value to the person you
want to contact:

Were the results positive? If so, great! Record them here. Or, if you didn’t do as well
as you’d hoped, write out a plan for improvement.

26
CHAPTER 10

THE MASTER MIND

The Master Mind principle can be defined as a coordination of knowledge and effort
in a spirit of harmony between two or more people working together for a definite
purpose.

Why is a Master Mind necessary? Just as several lamps will provide more illumination
than a single lamp, several thoughtful people will better help keep your focus directed
on the decided goal.

1. List five people whose advice you would feel comfortable following as
contributing members of your own Master Mind group.

2. Now, outline how your Master Mind group would ideally work.

27
3. Now, outline how your Master Mind group would ideally work.

4. Select one of the obstacles you’ve just listed, and detail how you’ll go about
answering or overcoming it.

28
CHAPTER 11

SEX TRANSMUTATION
According to Hill, the desire for sexual expression is a natural one. However, because
the subject of sex is surrounded by so many myths, biases, and taboos that restrict
conversation, it’s difficult to get a firm fix on the practical role that desire can in our
drive for success.

When driven by desire, people develop keenness of imagination, courage, willpower,

persistence, and creative ability beyond their norm.

The key, according to Hill, isn’t trying to eliminate your desire. Instead, Hill suggests
that you harness it.

Hill suggests that you give your desire for sexual expression alternative outlets
through various forms of expression that enrich your body, mind, and spirit. When
harnessed and redirected, the motivation of desire can maintain all of its positive
attributes, while being used as a dominant creative force in your professional efforts
as well as achieving your goals.

1. Can you recall a time when you thought about sexual desire enough that it
was a detriment to your work?

YES NO

2. Have you ever wished that you could take the time and energy that you’d
spent on seeking sexual expression, and put it into something that might be
viewed as more constructive and long-lasting?

YES NO

29
3. If you answered yes, reflect back on those times. Now, list the areas of your
life or specific tasks that might have benefited from an infusion the same
energy that you spent on seeking an outlet for sexual desire.

4. What can you do to rechannel some of that energy into the tasks listed
above, or similar areas of your life? List positive channels for your energy that
will support the achievement of your main goal.

30
CHAPTER 12

THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND

In this chapter, Hill focuses on the influence of your subconscious mind. He proposes
that even the thoughts you’re not aware of having shape and direct actions. To
ensure you stay motivated, Hill suggests that give yourself the thoughts you require to
create your own positive subconscious. Here’s how:

1. From morning radio and evening news to chatting with co-workers by the
water cooler, reflect on the external stimuli you expose yourself to daily—both
positive and negative. Now, list these out, separated by their positive and
negative effects on your mind:

POSITIVE:

NEGATIVE:

31
2. Now it’s time to change those negative experiences. Perhaps the nightly
news is getting you down, and you’d be better off keeping up on current
events by reading the paper or listening to a podcast. Or, maybe one of
your peers is constantly complaining, and you’d be better off avoiding their
conversation.

Revisit those events listed as negative, and decide which you can convert to
a positive experience:

3. What are the most common positive emotions that you experience? When do
you feel them, and how frequently?

32
4. Now, your goal is to take time to think of those positive emotions first thing
every morning. Use the space below to make a promise to yourself of how
you’ll do so, whether through journaling, meditation, or daily affirmations.

33
CHAPTER 13

THE BRAIN
Thinking isn’t a single action, but a compound process. Each thought is the stream
of conscious that takes into account your intellect and your ability to reason, then
combines them with your experience and ability to decide.

Sound complicated? It is! Which is why it’s important to take time and outline your
preferred thinking process. Do you prefer to problem solve by writing your ideas out,
contemplate while going for a walk, or get feedback from a group?

Using the method that you’ve just defined, sink your teeth into the following
questions. Go ahead, put some thought into it!

1. What has prevented you from achievement so far?

34
2. How many, and which, distractions steal your time?

3. What’s the last great idea that you failed to follow through on because
you didn’t set aside the time?

4. What’s the last great idea that you failed to follow through on because
you didn’t set aside the time?

35
5. How do you plan to use thinking to succeed in the future?

36
CHAPTER 14

THE SIXTH SENSE

“Understanding of the sixth sense comes only by meditation through mind
development from within.”
- Napoleon HIll

The sixth sense is that portion of your subconscious mind that’s sometimes referred to
as the “creative imagination.” It’s your gut feeling, your sense of what’s around you—the
area of your conscious mind that flashes with intuition.

However, the sixth sense will never function while three negatives—indecision, doubt,
and fear—in combination or separately, are in your mind. Indecision crystallizes into
doubt, and the two blend to become fear. The process is slow, and they can germinate
and grow without their presence being observed.

With the principles you have learned, you now have the power to combat these fears,
to drive them from your life. Success has a way of dispelling fears and doubts.

1. What are your three greatest fears? After naming each, explain the
reasoning behind your fear and the way in which each affects your
decisions, as well as what you want out of life.

A.

37
B.

C.

2. Select your greatest fear from the three listed above, and devise
several strategies for lessening that fear.

3. Now, think back to the concept of self-suggestion. How can you use
affirmations to lessen your fears?

38
SELF-ANALYSIS

Do you often find yourself feeling bad? If yes, what it’s the most frequent
cause of your negative feelings?

Is there a relative, friend, or acquaintance that regularly feels

comfortable “dumping” their negative feelings on you? Are you
permitting them to do so?

Are you quick to find fault with other people?

Do you frequently make mistakes at work? If yes, are you mistakes due
to a lack of effort or a lack of understanding?

Who inspires you the most and why?

39
Do you tolerate negative or discouraging influences that could be
avoided?

Is there anyone who you deliberately avoid? If so, why?

Do you devote more time to thinking of success or failure?

Do you find that you’re gaining or losing self-confidence as you grow

older?

Do you put effort into learning something of value from all your mistakes?

40
After going through Think and Grow Rich, have you decided on a
definite purpose? If so, what is it?

What’s your plan for achieving your purpose?

Do you have a method to shield yourself from the negative influence of

others?

Have you considered which friends or mentors will be a part of your

Master Mind?

Has reading through Think and Grow Rich added anything of value to
your knowledge or state of mind?

41
Can you list one experience in the last 24-hours that you’ve learned
from and can be used to aid in your personal advancement?

Do you make deliberate use of autosuggestion to make your mind

positive?

What’s the next step in your plan to achieve your purpose that can be
achieved in the next 24-hours?

What’s your goal to achieve by the end of this week?

If possible, go back through and take a day to ponder these questions before
answering. By doing so carefully and truthfully, you have the opportunity to gain a
better understanding of your fears and motivations. Use that knowledge to plan your
next steps and set yourself up for success.

42
CONCLUSION

“What you think, you create. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine,
you become.”

- Rhonda Byrne

Congratulations! You now hold the master key to unlock life’s riches. The ability to
create a burning desire for a definite goal—first in your mind, then in your reality. Your
struggles with indecision and time wasted on insecurity are now over.

Remember, there’s no penalty for dreaming big. But there is a price to be paid for those
who don’t to act: the failure to achieve.

Dream a reward worthy of your efforts, create goals worthy of your abilities, then take
the first step towards achievement today.
