Hamtramck Leaders Endorse Alexis Grace Krot for Judge


Mayor, Mayor Pro-Tem, City Council Members and School Board President Support Retaining Judge Krot

HAMTRAMCK, MI — 31st District Court Judge Alexis Grace Krot earned the support of Hamtramck’s
leaders in her bid for election to a new term as Hamtramck’s District Court judge. Endorsing Judge Krot
are Mayor Karen Majewski, Mayor Pro-Tem Anam Miah, Council Members Fadel Al-Marsoumi, Saad
Almasmari, Andrea Karpinski, Abu Musa and Ian Perrotta, Hamtramck School Board President
Magdalena Srodek, Hamtramck School Board Member Moortadha Obaid and former Mayor Tom
Jankowski.

“Judge Krot serves our community with integrity, honor and respect for all,” said Mayor Karen Majewski.
“Her innovative changes aimed at breaking down barriers created an efficient, accessible court for
Hamtramck residents. She deserves to be retained as our judge in November.”

Alexis Grace Krot grew up in a Hamtramck family dedicated to service to the community. After finishing
law school and earning a Master of Business Administration degree, Krot returned to Hamtramck where
she purchased her first home on Norwalk Street in 2008. In 2017, Judge Krot and her family purchased
the Vestiarki Sisters Convent in Hamtramck and are restoring their new home and property to its full
potential.
Active in the community, Judge Krot is a board member of the Hamtramck Drug Free Community
Coalition (HDFCC), a board member of the Piast Institute, a member of the Polish American Congress, a
board member Karol Wojtyla Hamtramck Park Committee (Pope Park) and a lifelong parishioner of St.
Ladislaus/St. Florian Parish.

“Judge Krot knows Hamtramck. As a homeowner and community volunteer with deep roots in the city,
she understands our community and the needs of our residents,” said School Board President
Magdalena Srodek. “I support Judge Krot in her effort to retain her seat with the 31st District Court.”

“I am honored to earn the support of so many of Hamtramck’s leaders,” Krot said. “I am grateful for the
opportunity to work with them in service to our city and to our residents and I appreciate the
confidence they have placed in me by supporting my effort to continue as Hamtramck’s judge,”
concluded Krot.

Judge Krot focused her legal career on serving the people of Hamtramck. In May 2005, she was sworn in
as a lawyer at the 31st District Court by Judge Paul Paruk. She immediately began serving as house
counsel practicing criminal defense.

Judge Krot operated a thriving general practice on Caniff – writing wills, practicing criminal defense,
advising small businesses and representing parents and spouses in domestic matters. In 2011, she
become of counsel to the law firm serving as City Attorney for the City of Hamtramck and handled the
prosecutions of traffic, criminal and code enforcement matters at the 31st District Court.

In May 2014, Judge Paruk swore her in as the second magistrate of the 31st District Court. Krot was
appointed to the bench in 2016 upon the retirement of Judge Paruk. The election in November will be to
fill the remainder of Judge Paruk’s term.
