Big Players to enter LED manufacturing

Energy majors including ONGC Ltd. and NTPC Ltd., and some other players will enter the LED
manufacturing market. This will ensure the technology breaches the price barrier through scale up in
production. LED lamps are solid state lighting devices that utilise light emitting diodes as a source of
illumination instead of electrical filaments or gas and hence cuts down heavily on energy
consumption. Besides they do not contain mercury associated with CFLs.
