Oktoberfest Parade on September 22. We will
be towing an Apache riding trailer (like the
people-movers at the county fair).

The Lutheran World Relief InGathering will be
changing this year: churches will not be
designated collection points for the many
school, health, and sewing kits. Rather, Brown
Transfer companies across the state will be
receiving the donations. Because so many
smaller churches in this area don’t get the
information about LWR collections, we feel
many will still bring their boxes to St. John’s.
With that said, St. John’s is looking for folks with
straight trucks or enclosed trailers who might
loan a truck for packing and transport to Sioux
City or Omaha to a Brown Transfer location. We
could collect boxes here (at least this year) and
make one trip. The InGathering would be
Nov. 5-8, so we would need to have something
in place before then. PLEASE contact the office
@ 402-371-1985 if you have a truck or ideas on
how to facilitate this event. Thank you!
GARDEN RENOVATION PROJECT
There is still time and plants to be removed from
the berm before the garden makeover. Just a
reminder: because our garden nearest Hwy 81
is high profile, please be neat and fill in any
holes where you have removed something.
We’ll try to keep things looking as nice as
possible during the renovation. Thank you!
NOTE: The stones can also be removed, but just
from the berm area. Those in the sign enclosure
area should remain here.
LOOKING FOR A CD PLAYER
Do you have an old CD player that works but you
don’t use anymore? The Sunday School is in
need of one! As long as the CD player is in
working condition, we would be glad to have the
donation. Donations can be brought to the
church office for Jolene.

Bright Horizons Diapers & Wipes Drive
Help us collect diapers and baby wipes during
the month of September as we support Bright
Horizons’ children in our community. They are
especially in need of sizes 4, 5, and 6. Watch for
a tote in the west hallway!

All parents and students, grades 3rd - 8th are
encouraged to attend an informational meeting
about the 2018-19 St. John’s Confirmation. This
meeting will include information about
schedules, class requirements, and instructions
for Remind Texting sign up. Please bring your
cell phones.
On Sunday, October 7th, St. John’s will once again
be participating in the MERCY MEALS PACK
AWAY HUNGER DAY to be held at Divot’s
DeVent Center.
We need volunteers to help fill our 3 teams –
(All ages can help)
10 people per team
MERCY MEALS, in partnership with the Orphan
Grain Train along with the help of donors and
volunteers, makes a difference in the lives of children
throughout the world. Where there is poverty, there
is hunger. Every year more than 3 million children
under the age of 5 die from malnutrition. Last year
MERCY MEALS and the Orphan Grain Train
shipped one million more meals than the previous
year. These shipments would not be possible without
the support of our donors and volunteers.
Gather your friends and family and reserve your spot
10 AM, Noon, or 2 PM
In addition to volunteers packing meals we also need
people to help with clean up after the event.
