USDA Forecasts Decreased Yields for North Carolina
“The September 1 crop production report indicates a drop in yield for most of NC major commodities.” said Dee Webb, North Carolina
State Statistician. “Once again we thank the farmers for taking time to respond, especially during their preparations for Hurricane
Florence. The growers ensured quality data was provided and their response allowed USDA NASS to set estimates based on the most
accurate information. We hope everyone stays safe through the storm.”
Corn for grain Cotton
 Yield is forecast at 124 bushels per acre, down 18 bushels  Yield is forecast at 921 pounds per acre, down 48 pounds
from last year’s record yield of 142 bushels per acre. from last year’s yield of 969 pounds per acre.
 Production is forecast to total 107.9 million bushels, down  Production is forecast at 806,000 bales, up 9% from last
