2010 Pakistan floods

Pakistan has been hit by the worst flood ever in 80 years of history. This flood
has not even affected the land but also made nearly half millions of people to
escape from their homes

The 2010 Pakistan floods began in July 2010 following heavy monsoon rains
in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan regions of
Pakistan. Present estimates indicate that over two thousand people have died
and over a million homes have been destroyed since the flooding began.

The United Nations estimates that more than 21 million people are injured or
homeless as a result of the flooding, exceeding the combined total of
individuals affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir
earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake. At one point, approximately one-
fifth of Pakistan's total land area was underwater due to the flooding.

Pakistan faces a humanitarian crisis as thousands of people have been displaced and
lost their properties, crops, businesses and cattle’s due to current flash floods and
heavy monsoon rains from Kashmir, KP, Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh. While the
whole communication infrastructure has been severely damaged

More than 140, 00000 people have been displaced and thousands of homes
have been lost in all over Pakistan. At least 1,588 people have been injured,
222,600 houses and 4,600 villages have been damaged or destroyed. This is
the worst calamity in our history. The infrastructure of this province has
been destroyed by the flood. There is an outbreaks of diseases, such as:
gastroenteritis, diarrhea, and skin diseases due to lack of clean drinking
water and sanitation can pose a serious new risk to flood victims,

Relief efforts
The government and the people of Pakistan have already done much to help
families affected by these floods. The Imran Khan Foundation has raised over $2
million towards the flood relief efforts and continues to solicit donations in its
ongoing relief operation inside Pakistan. The President and Prime minister of
Pakistan Have visited the flood affected areas as well.

Pakistan has appealed to international donors for help in responding to the disaster.
In these difficult financial times, countries have been extremely generous in helping
those in need around the world, contributing over five billion dollars to appeals this
year. The United Nations has launched the largest ever natural disaster appeal by
asking global community to contribute over USD two billion to provide aid for
flood-affected 14 million people in Pakistan. The floods in Pakistan are the worst
natural disaster the United Nations has had to deal with in 65 years.
Muslim countries, organizations and individuals have pledged close to $1 billion to
assist in Pakistan’s flood emergency.

Conclusion
This is the worst calamity in our history. There is shortage of food,
drinking water, and inadequate medical facility. We should donate
Relief goods such as biscuits, pillows, medicines, towels, dry milk for
children, utensils and candles. And we must also ensure the health and
safety of all these flood victims and provide immediate help, including
food, shelter, medical staff and clean water to these floods hit people.

Flood affected are hopeless, they need our help and are expecting a lot
from government and looking towards NGO, s, Pakistan army, private
and also international helping workers that they must come forward in
order to relief them. We must stand united at this juncture of time and
prove to the world that we are a brave nation we will not succumb to
any challenge.
