“2nd International Conference on Computing & Information


Sciences – ICCIS 2018”
PAF-KIET held its 2nd International Conference on Computing & Information Sciences (ICCIS-
2018) from 26 to 27 March 2018 at Main Campus..

International researchers Dr. Mohamed Amin Embi, Director, Universiti Kebangsaan,


Malaysia, Dr. Ibrahima Faye, Head of the Intelligent Medical Imaging Research Group,
Universiti Teknologi Petronas and Dr. Tahir Riaz, Data Architect, Sleeknote ApS, Denmark
participated in the conference. Dr. Syed Irfan Hyder, Dean CBM and CES, IoBM, Dr. B. S.
Chowdhry, Dean, Faculty of Electrical, Electronics & Computer Engineering, MEUT and Dr.
Hasina Khatoon, Director, National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, were
among the national keynote speakers.

Mr Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Transport & Mass Transit, Labor, Human Resource
and Information was the Chief Guest of the opening ceremony. He took keen interest in the
conference proceedings and praised the efforts of the distinguished researchers and students.

More than 15 universities from across the country participated in the conference including IoBM,
IBA, NUST, NED University, MAJU and Bahria University from Karachi. In the two-day
conference 73 research paper abstracts were submitted whereas, only 24 research papers on
different subjects were selected for the final presentation.

In his opening address, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Tubrez Asif, President PAF-KIET, welcomed
all guests and participants. He said he was confident that the forum would help provide a bridge
between the academia and the industry. He also thanked the chief guest for his presence.

The conference ended with a graceful ceremony on 27 March 2018, where Mr. Ovais Habib
Khan, Chief Operating Officer, TPS Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. was the chief guest of the occasion.
Closing ceremony was attended by guests from Academia, Industry, Pakistan Air Force and
students of the Institute.

A panel discussion on “Industry-Academia Relationship – A way forward” was also held during
the closing ceremony, where different researchers, teachers, students and many scholars
interacted with National and International speakers and discussed about various topics related
to the Industry-Academia Relationship.

President PAF-KIET commended the efforts of organizing committee and thanked all the
participants for making the conference successful. He also added that the quality of papers
presented were of high value. The plenary sessions were highly educative and brought forth
new ideas and information.
