EU CHLORIDE ARONKASE! CO,, LTD. 7or Re FORWARD: ARON PIPE is an unplasticized polyvinyl chloride pipe which was manufactured and marketed by TOA JYUSHI KOGYO CO.,LTD. in 1951 for the first time in Japan Thanks to its superior quality in corrosion resistance and durability, thus favouring users economically, its sales volume has been remarkably increasing for past thirty years. During its course of expansion through a merge with TERAOKA PLASTIC MFG. CO.,LTD., which was a manufacturer of pipe fittings among others, the name of the company has been changed to ARON KASEI CO., LTD. as we are called now Along with the development of plastic industries, the Japanese Government has established various JIS stan- dards, such as: JIS K 6741 ~~ general purpose pipe" 1954 JIS K 6742 water service pipe 1956 JIS_K 6739 ~~ fitting for drain pipe" 1972 and successively being awarded for these Standards, ARON’s plants have also been qualified as factories of JIS approved PVC pipe and fittings. ARON KASEI also manufactures other types of pipe and fittings. Among these types are: ARON Pipe VPR-NA (rubber ring type rigid PVC pipe for water way) ARON HI Pipe (high shock resistance) ARON Pipe & ARON EGG-SHAPED Pipe (sewage use) ARON Pipe (agriculture purpose) ARON Perforated Pipe ARON FT Fittings, ete. All ARON products are manufactured under strict quali- ty control to meet every JIS requirement. Furthermore, ARON products are so designed to suit easy and econo- mical application that they are favoured very much by patronage from users of every field of industries both in Japan and abroad. They also show considerable stability against natural earth movement. Hygienical: ARON Pipe and Fittings are made of unplasticized PVC. Accordingly they are free from toxicity and bad smell and are officially permitted to use for drink~ ing water, The ARON Pipe is electrically nonconductive, and it is insulator by nature with- standing against high voltage. Therefore, it is highly recommendable for electric conduit. It is also free from electrical corrosion. é Superiorly low electrical conductivity: ARON Pipe [Mew | Poredam [Bio Dilectne steenath] Lavaer thon KV ‘1 15~78 | ~25 | 10~70 Nonflammable: The ARON Pipe and Fittings are nonflammable and self-extinguishable. Therefore, they never start fire. The ARON Pipe and Fittings are of low heat conductivity and can keep the temparature inside very effectively. On the other hand they can protect fluid inside from undesirable freezing, which is assumed as one of the big advantage- ous features. Outstanding duarability: ‘The ARON Pipe and Fittings have superior resistance against corrosion as mentioned above, and they do not show any noticeable deterioration even buried underground. They also do not become inferior by ageing. Therefore, they can be recommended most suitable under the condition where durability is most es- sential. 10 Easy installation and reliable result: 8 Low Heat Conductivity: The thermo-plasticity of the ARON Pipe enables you bending and jointing very easily. Furthermore, tapered sleeve Fittings offer you quick jointing operation even under normal temperature by applying solvent cement, which is uncompar- able operation only applicable to PVC material. No leakage whatsoever is also guaranteed. Swift mending. ‘The durability of the ARON Pipe and Fittings ensure you not being bothered of frequent replacement or repairs. Im case, however, should any repair be necessary, very swift mending would suffice the job, and therefore, your cost of maintenance may be saved quite a lot. Economical : ‘The users of the ARON Pipe and Fittings can keep their business inexpensive not only because of their economical costs but also because of economical ex- penses of operation, such as installation, maintenance and all other factors. = STANDARD SIZES OF ARON PIPE VP_GENERAL PURPOSE PIPE 2, WW DRAIN & GENERAL PURPOSE (vis K 6741) tue = PIPE(JIS K 6741) nics 13 | 1e| +0.2[ 202] 22] +06) 13| 1 «| @[s02/raltoa] a] as w6 | 2[ 202/402] 27| +06] 16] 256 wo 60 [+02] tal so4] 6 | sat 2 [| w/+0.2[s02] 27] +0.8| 20] 10 65 w|+oa/e2{+oe| | 25 25 | 2) +0.2[ 02) 31| +08] af we 7 | #9 | +0.3[ 27[ +06] 03 | 1.159 a0 | a) sosleo2| also) a] se — 100 fans [toa] 3.1] +0.8| 207 [1,797 @ | 6) 0.3] +02) 3.6 | +08) «| 7 125 | 140 | 0.5] 41] +0.8[ 11 | 2,799 0 | 60) +04] 20.2) 41] +o.8) ot] 1,122 150 [165 | £0.6| 5.1| +0.8| 154 | 3.90 | 7) 05] sos) «1 | +08) er] 105 200 | 216 [0.8] 6.5| +1.0) 202 | 6,572 7_| 89/05] £0.3] 5.5 | +0.8] 7| 2,200 250_| 267 | +1.0| 7.0| +1.2| 250 | 9,758 00 [114] 0.6] =0.4] 6.6 | +1.0] 100] 3,400 s00 | a8 | ent] 9.2] $1.4 | 298 [13,701 e@ 12510 | =0.8[ =0.5| 70 | +1.0/ 125) 4.460 330__| a70 [#13105] $1.4] 348 | 18,051 150 [165 [#10 20.6) 8.9 | +1.4|r46| 6,701 400 | 420 | +1.5[11.8| +1.6| 295 | 23,059 200_[ 26 | #1.3| =0.6) 10.3 | +1.4 | 194] 10,129 aso [470 | #17 [13.2| +1.8| 442 [28,075 250 | 267 | £1.6| 21.0] 12.7 | +1.8| 240 | 15,481 500 | 520 | +1-9| 146 | +2.0| 490 [35,306 300 [sie | +10] =1.1| 15.1 | +2.2| 286] 21,060 600 | 30 | 5.2] 17.0] +2.8| 592 | 52,079 Totez 7. Why the switch? Ryan: My whole background has been in manufacturing and avvortation, th Imajoity of that on the process side. Over my 1 years at Rockwell | hed a number of different roles — sales, engineering ‘services, productmanagement, marketing and was particularly involved in its process industry initiatives, including the acquisitions of Sequencia Assets, Propack Data, and Interwave Technologies GE Fanucis a tremendous company and was looking to rove ahead significantly ‘the process space. The opportunity aligned with my own. aspirations and my passion ~ love the process space ~ and it was also an acknowledgment thet GE was stepping up its focus. investment and Cornmitment tothe process industries, CEA: What are some of the key challenges in the process sector? Ryan: | would say that there are more pressures on the sector to achieve world class levels of manufacturing than ever ‘before, But also, technology has emerged that allows us to do things that were not able to be done in the past. Overall, i's an extremely interesting time in ‘manufacturing - more so that any other time in my career Summarizing some of the major issues: having the necessary visibility to compete in the global economy: needing to plug into a global supply chain; increasing regulations requiring recall, track and ‘race capabilities; ongoing demands to improve efficiency and reduce varianc demographic changes necessitating the embedding of knowledge into systems as plants face the loss of expenise and experience; and the increasing need to conform to environmental expectations and legis CEA:Whatwas the trigger to launch Proficy Process Systems? Ryan: Process is not something new for GE Fenue: we da have a heritage in the sector. You can see this through ‘ur installed base, in recognized product offerings such 26 the CIMPLICITY and the PACSystems platiorm, and notable acquisitions lke Intellution and Mountain Systems over the last few years, The hardware and sofware technology that we have invested in over time really set us up t0 offer and deliver a systems As GE Fanuc Automation launches Proficy Process Systems, Stephen Ryan, Director of Marketing, Global Process Solutions, tells CE Asia how the company intends to tackle the lucrative process sector witl new system offering. approach to the process sector, in ‘dition t0 our existing product approach Hence, the evolution to Proficy Process Systems. CEA. So you put together the existing GE Fanue component offerings to create a system? Ryan: What we did not do was just combine @ bunch of products and cal ita system. Proficy Process Systems (PPSH isa true systems experience — trom he way it was developed, to how we market and sell it, and how we support the customer When the product was sili the design phase, we conducted a tremendous amount of "voice of customer” research going out to industry to understand the criticalto-quality parameters that a process control system needs to drive The feedback that came back was for a system that delivered results and enabled he freedom to contigure and imgiervent he ina flexible way Taking proven component technologies and building in system feetures w It's a extremely interesting time in manufacturing - more so that any other point in my career. ach the ent iust call port sign atch ‘and ma ora dled rent sles the core of the development approach. For ‘example, far visualization, we can sell IFIX as a separate product but when part of PPS, it's truly connected to the Global namespace and our integrated alarm strategy. And for the PACSystems Controller, we can build in the ability to do process control within the firmware, and this is enabled when it’s within PPS, CEA: For process plant customers familiar with the likes of ABB, Emerson, Honeywell, ete, you can now offer a DCS equivalent to satisfy process control needs? Ryan: Yes, absolutely. Tha's why Proficy Process Systems is such an important launch for us. Adding system features to proven components has enabled GE Fanuc tocome up with avery competitive process control system and one that Gelivers significant value to customers. What we are not offering is a monolithic OCS. While we certainly have the capabiities of a DCS, there is dierentiation in the openness, llexbilty scalabiity that allows us to effectively address applications from batch through to continuous process, CEA: How do you view the process control competitive landscape and GE Fanue’s positioning? Ryan: Competitors in this space are in two categories: those that come from the trecitional DCS perspective, and those from a PLC perspective with roots in factory rather than process automation ‘When lookat the DCS providers sense that they are trying to scale down their systems but are having a lot of difficulty indoing so. I's not just technology issue t's about constructing a business model that puts customers in control and gives them flexibility and freedom, which were paramount in our development of Proficy Process Systems. ‘Then you have PLC heritage companies (ike ourselves} coming in to address the process space. We differentiate here in two key ways: through offering a truly contemporary controls technology = compare the performance specs EXECUTIVE INSIGHT builds on tho eapobities of PAcSystems conurallers and Proiiey automation sonware, of PACSystems against competitive technology that is much elder; and through tight integration of the information- automation layers. The latter, especially, has been a challenge for some of our competitors trying to link disparate applications together is quite different to ‘ur abily to collapse the information and control architecture in @ unified approach CEA: This push into process is a part of long term game plan or an opportunistic ride on booming industries like oil & gas? Ryan: GE Fanuc and the broader GE have considerable knowledge and experience of the process sector, so while we acknowledge that the current Period represents an appropriate window of opportunity, we're certainly not just jumping on any bandwagon Rather, its a cumulative consequence ofthe investments in organic technology development like PAC; in acquisitions = the high speed reflective memory used in PPS comes from one of those embedded system company purchases: {and in adopting technology ~ such as APC ladvanced process control - from other GE divisions. We're emerging at a time when @ lot ‘of customers are looking to replace older systems and if they look out to see what's available on the market, i's quite different compared to 5-10 years ago when running @ temperature oF flow loop was pretty much all that was expected of a process control system. And to meet the challenges | talked about earlier, they need ‘optimization, they need muhidisciplinary control for hybrid idiscrete, batch, Continuous} manufacturing environments, and they need that tight integration of information and automation. CEA: Do you have target industries for Proficy Process Systems? Ayan: We target both the hybrid and continuous process industries with emphasis on some key applications. In Life Sciences, these include biotech and solution prep: Food & Beverage — mixing brewing, fermenting; Ol&Gas = pipelines, gas plants, and LNG terminals, with a stress ‘on the upstream side; Power = balance-of-plant applications. Other ‘major focus areas are Water/Wastewater, Metals, and the Ethanol industry. I's not a case of being everything to ‘everybody. You may not see us in large complex process applications to begin with, but more in the small to medium and ‘we wil then go on and grow from there, CEA: What has been your own Personal experience of working for GE Fanuc? Ryan: Words like excellence and professionalism come tomind. GE isadata driven organization with great processes in place, and | lke that. The environment is allabout fast paced growth and the level of people is really top notch. Overal, its been very positive and I'm truly enjoying the experience. CEA: And the future ambition for GE Fanuc in the process sector? Ryan: The message is that we're here to stay in this sector. I's about longevity and providing continued value to customers; i's about spending time listening to and watching the market; i's about lining Up contemporary technology offerings to meet the needs of customers. ‘And as markets continue to shift = demographicelly, geographically, technologically ~ it's about being able to reflect those trends. I'm excited ‘and confident about the Proficy Procass Systems launch and | believe we have a great value proposition and future ahead, CEA sr EAs com + CONTROL ENGMEERING ASIA a bo pt Nowes'1.
