Acuson 128XP Service Manual 179 Power Supply DANGER! CAUTION: “The power supplies described inthis section re for Acuson 128XP,/10, 128XP 5, and 128XP/E systems. Refer to service manual part number 19018 or 23181 fora description ofthe power supplies in earlier systems. ‘There ae two versions ofthe power supply used in the Acuson 128X?: ‘domestic and international, The nomenclature “domestic” is used to refer to systems which requite 100/11SVAC at 60Hz. “International” refers 10 systems which use 220/240VAC at 0 or 6OF2, These aro two different supplies and cannot be modified in the field to replace one another. ‘The power supply is composed of three main sections: the Power Supply Tray, the Scanner Digital Power Supply and the Scan Converter Power Supply ‘Switching power supplies are used exclusively because oftheir high efficiency. ‘The power supply offers temperature sensing fans fault reporting, and rediced leakage current. In addition to powerline voltage, ISOVDC and 300VDC are also present in the power supply tray. Because ofthese high voltages, the entire tray should be treated with caution. However there are some areas which can be particularly hazardous. These are: C3 (large electrolytic capacitor with ‘neon lamp which lights when 300V is presen), the fuse and resistor on top of the Programmable Power Supply (PPS), CRI (diode bridge near TB2), both terminal blocks (TBI and TB2), the EMI filter and all Orange and ‘White/Black wiring, Also presant is 300VDC i the Scanner Digital Power Supply and the Scan Converter Power Supply, within the area bordered by dotted lines labeled: “High Voltage” (soe Figures 5-1, 85, 56 and 5-7. ‘To ensure the safety of the patient and sonographer measure the amount of leakage current from the AC power line connections to chassis ground after any service activity which involves any wiring on the primary side of the ‘main isolation transformer, Primary-side circuitry includes the EMI filter, ‘cust breaker, sofe-start assembly and PDB 2. Contact your Acuson customer engineer if you need assistance in making this measurement Power Supply Tray 180 ‘The power supply tray is located beneath the system. It rolls out to the rear once the four retaining bolts and fier bracket are removed. The primary AC ‘wiring, main isolation transformer, soft-start circuitry and Power Distribution Board 2 (PDB 2) as well as the Scanner Analog Power Supply and Programmable Power Supply (PPS), are located in the tray. ‘Acuson 128XP Service Manual on ) Power Supply EMiRee (118Vac, 175vAMS, s¢0VRMS) 5 c Bt 7 ‘Scanner Analog Power Supply A (3) {7 Main | Isolation Programmable Power Supply Transformer) | ae | t PDB | oovbe), = | ie. | soft start corel Assy. Scan Converter Power Supply ‘The Scan Converter Power Supply is located in the upper cart beneath the Sean Converter. Iti accessed by opening the upper cart and removing the protective cover. on ‘Acuson 126XP Service Manual 181
