Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

You must pass the Praxis Core Exam with a passing score of at least a 150 for the Math category,

156 for the Reading category, and 162 for the Writing category in order to do the following: (a)

take any education courses at UNLV, NSC or UNR, and (b) to continue to move on to the

bachelor’s degree in education.

Exam Preparation

I did not look over the study material provided because I wanted to see where I stood

with the classes I have taken so far. I had a feeling that these sets of tests were going to be like

the Nevada proficiency test we were required to complete in high school.

Exam Results

My score for the Math Praxis Core Exam was 75%, which means I would have been

borderline passing. On the Reading section, I scored a 33% on the Praxis Core Exam, which was

a real eye opener. When I saw that score I knew I needed significant improvement to pass the

real exam. On the Writing portion of the Praxis Core Exam I scored a 61%, which means I need

improvement as well.

Future Exam Preparation

This practice test really puts into perspective what I have to work on. I need to work on

my math skills a little more to be able to pass the math portion of the Praxis Core Exam

without struggling. Next, for my reading, I need to really comprehend the material that is given

to be able to answer the questions correctly. Finally, for the writing portion of the Praxis Core
Exam I will need to work on being able to identify grammar errors, or if there are no errors to be

able to answer the question appropriately.
