How to clear journals on hold

Description
Scenario: Both the batch server and the accounting tasks are running without problems, however there are
journals stuck on hold. You can confirm both the batch server is running because when deactivating
and reactivating the batch server, it prompts "The server is activated" with a process number. You can
confirm the accounting task is running because when starting the accounting task, it'll show the column
of Task status as "Active" and the Status column as "In progress". However, the accounting task shows a
non-zero value in the "Journals on hold" column.
Warning: If the batch server or accounting tasks are not running, do not perform the steps in this KB
article. Use the other KBs in the link below instead. This list is not comprehensive, so continue to search the
knowledgebase for additional resources.
To view if there are journals on hold:

1. Navigate to Usage, Batch Server, Accounting tasks


2. Verify if there is a value greater than 0 in the Journals on hold field/column
3. Right click and select Log
4. The accounting task log may not show an error. However, if there is an error, an example of a log
error may show:

Transaction stopped
BATCHCPT/$TR2 505 : AP Call BALANA from CPTBAL
Error in Transaction Creation STOCK STKxxxx325 (18)
3Table : [BALANA[BLA]] Key: [Ledger type] [Company][Fiscal year] [Account number][Currency] (18)

Cause
There are different and unknown causes, however it has been confirmed this can be caused by a power
outages.

Resolution

1. Go to Usage, Batch server, Accounting task and click Stop


2. Go to Function GMAINT and select GACCTMP table
3. Change FLG from 1 to 0, tab out and click Save. Do this for all the records
o If you have a lot of records stuck, you may create an UPDATE SQL script to perform
this, however, this is for your database administrator to decide and perform
4. End out
5. Go back to Accounting task (Usage, Batch Server, Accounting tasks) and click Run now
6. If needed, click Update until the Journals on hold show zero
