The A6 was developed to meet the U.S. Navy's need for an aircraft that could attack ground and
sea based targets in any weather, day or night.
The A-6E was the definitive production version of the Intruder. The A-6E was externally identical
to the A-6A, but featured much more advanced electronics, and successive upgrades were made
throughout the years which progressively increased the capabilities of this warplane.
