Die Gap: 1 mm
NOTE: Dyneon provides this tool to help the user determine an approximate shear rate range for a
given extrusion die configuration and throughput rate. Please use this tool only as a guideline for
characterizing the apparent shear rate at the die of an extrusion process. It may be used to make
relative comparisons of apparent shear rates for different die configurations, such as changes in die
gap, or for different throughput rates. The tool is not intended to be used for die design or to replace
the user’s careful consideration of the unique circumstances and conditions involved in the user’s
formulation and processing. The user is responsible for determining whether this tool is suitable and
appropriate for the user’s particular purpose and intended application.
Note: The equations assume Newtonian liquids. No correction is made for non-Newtonian behavior
(Rabinowitsch correction). The equations assume no slip and do not correct for any slip. No
corrections are made for any end effects (Bagley correction).
