 INTRODUCTION
Purpose/aims To provide learners with the opportunity to develop an understanding of the design
process and how the planning and design phases are coordinated and managed..
‘Citadel’, a modern township is to be constructed in the city of Jaffna. The site is about
a km2 in extent, flat and sandy and situated about 500 meters away from the lagoon.
The locality is supplied only with drinking water and there is no sewerage scheme
either. But there is a public solid waste collection system.
The township comprises 8 number 5 story buildings and all infra structural facilities.
‘Buildart’, the leading contractors & builders have undertaken the design and
