The North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors
administers the provisions of the Engineering and Land Surveying Act,
Chapter 89C, of the North Carolina General Statutes.

The purpose of this letter is to alert Buncombe County that this Board
regulates the engineering profession in North Carolina, to include
investigating allegations of gross negligence, incompetence or
misconduct by its licensees . Given the recent indictments of former
county officials, if during your review of engineering contracts with the
county, it is revealed that there was misconduct involving a Professional
Engineer or an engineering firm, it is requested that information be
furnished to this Board for investigation.
