STRONG POINTS:
1) Public Support-The captain has the support of the public, the sports fraternity & most importantly his
team. The media is also in his support.
2) Experience-He is a 2-time Asian games gold medallist & thus knows what & who will be a suitable coach
for the team before such a difficult tour. Many young yachters have achieved a lot under his guidance.
3) Lack of valid justification- is difficult for the opposition to provide a valid reason for not appointing the
Olympic medallist (or medals winner) as the team’s coach.
4) Lack of experience of the appointed coach-appointed coach has never sailed in the International arena.
5) A new team is an impractical decision-a whole new team before a difficult tour, in a country where
yachting is gaining so much popularity along with the players & not sending experienced player is
impractical for the opposition.
WEAK POINTS
1) Act of indiscipline - The President of a national sports authority the way Bore did in the press
i.e. does seem as an extreme act of indiscipline.
2) The matter is time sensitive-suspension has put the team’s career at risk & the more this
matter drags on, the more disadvantaged they will be.
3) The main issue may lose focus- so many issues at hand such as transparency, the issue of
coach may lose its focus.
4) Press conference uncalled for-never approached Bara to discuss the matter. Instead, he
questioned his credentials and accused the YAB officials of being pathetically incompetent in
an open press conference.
5) Example setting- This instance may be used by the opposition as an example setting
opportunity for others against indiscipline.
1)Appointment of Nick Samuel as the coach or any 3rd experienced person who has the confidence
of the team.
2)Public apology can be asked from the captain & the teams for the utter disrespect dished out.
3)Stern disciplinary action can be taken against the captain.
4)Intervention of the Bakasian Olympic Association may be asked for.
GOALS
1)Overhaul in the system how the yachting authority works & treat the players.
2)Smooth functioning of yachting in the country.
3)Maintaining amicable relationship with the players.
4) Providing a smooth environment and scope for yachting as a sport.
