PROCEDURES 7. Steps for Troubleshooting In Broadband “Dataone” Connection: (i) I am not able to browse: (a) Check the ADSL line is properly connected, CPE is powered on and ADSL link LED is glowing in stable condition (b) Check that LAN cable is properly connected to PC and LAN link LED is glowing in stable condition. If LAN LED is not stable then check that LAN cable is connected properly or replace the cable and check. In case the LAN cable is connected to LAN switch or HUB, you have to use a cross cable. If the LAN LED is still not glowing, then verify that LAN card is properly installed with suitable driver or get the help of your computer service person for doing so. (c) If all physical installation is correct but still you are not able to browse then check that (i) The TCP/IP setting is configured as desired with correct gateway address and DNS server IP addresses. To verify open the DOS window and type ping 192.168.1.1 it should give output ‘Reply from 192.168.1.1: bytes=32 time<1ms ITL=64” (ii) Ensure that no proxy setting is configured in browser. In Internet explorer you can verify as following (iii) Open the Internet explorer and click on Tools and select Internet options (iv) Click on connections tab and select LAN settings. See if any proxy setting is configured. Uncheck the proxy settings box and click OK (v) Click on General, clear history, delete cookies and OK (vi) Click on security, click on default level, apply and OK (vii) Click on advance and then click on restore default, apply. (viii) Electrical earthing may not proper. (d) If still it is not working, then login to CPE configuration page (http://192.168.1.1) through Internet explorer. (e) Observe the information displayed on Summary page. Note whether the ADSL link speed for upstream/downstream is displayed. ADSL state should be ‘Show Time’. The SNR value should be 10 or more. The CRC value should be zero or a low figure and it should not be increasing. (f) Scroll down the page and see the WAN channel information. Against PVCO, it should display IP address (59.92.XX.XX) and Gateway address, Encapsulation should be PPPoE and Status should in Green colour. If this information is not appearing, then check for correctness of PPPoE configuration in HomeWAN Settings page. Check whether you have entered correct username and password and Default Gateway is enabled (ii) I am not able to send the mails using Outlook Express (a) Probably you have not configured dataone email in your Outlook Express. (b) You have configured multiple Email accounts (e.g. VSNL mail account) in your Outlook Express and default account for outgoing mail is either than Dataone Mail Account. Some ISPs do not allow their SMTP access from network of other ISPs. Therefore you should make Dataone Mail as default account for all outgoing mails (c) Our SMTP server needs authentication. Make sure you have ticked the ‘My server needs authentication’ in account properties while configuring the Outlook Express. (iii) I am a business customer having our own POP server or mails with own domain but want SMTP service for relaying mails: BSNL does not provide SMTP relay service for mail Ids of other than dataone.in or sancharnet.in domain. (iv) I am not getting desired speed: Apart from bad ADSL line there are several factors which affect Internet speed badly especially while accessing international sites. Even though PC is latest but Win98/2000/NT have technical limitation to support speeds above 200 Kbps. The virus/spyware infected computers are most common reasons to frustrate you. Helpline: In case of any complaint please contact broadband helpilne number 1957, 25511300 or mail to ahmedabad@bsnl.in In case of any complaint related to billing please contact your Account Officer (TR).
