Power of prayer, obedience etc.
Boxes
- Bits of walls in the foyer
- Build a wall
- Prayers against injustice, poverty
- Time of prayer
- Pull the ‘box’ of whatever down
Examples ‐ Could give everyone a brick and write their name to build a wall
Song:
- Marching around the wall of Jericho – Josh and the battle of Jericho
- We Win – David Crowder
- God of this city – Chris Tomlin
- Tear down the walls – Hillsong
Activity: What’s something strange you could ask people to do because marching around the wall
was pretty strange – but they had to be obedient and do it
Could have cardboard box wall out the front with some smaller boxes and on the shoe boxes have
things people could pray for eg. Families, kids at school, bullying (things that relate to children) or
you could use adult things like injustice, poverty etc…
And then the wall comes tumbling down.
Make sure something is mentioned after the wall comes tumbling down because we still have to
walk outside into a world of pain and hurt etc.
Could have silence – vs 10 say before the wall comes down they had to be silent
Each family could come forward and take a shoe box (brick from wall) with a prayer request to take
home and pray for a certain period of time.

Kids time

- Kids could have a race some with little kits to carry – one with a really huge kit – they would be
handicapped if they had more luggage to carry…
- High school kids have so many book their bags are way to heavy – so they need to only carry
what they need for that day
Drama
- Mime ‐ Man comes in carrying a huge load…puffing and straining… then stops and drops off the
load…sighs etc… then picks up the load again and continues on. – so many times we can bring our
baggage to Jesus and then drop it off, but when we leave we sometimes pick it back up again..
- The weight that I carry – skit – ignite worship
Song
- Lean on me – DC Talk
Message
- When you have a lot of stuff – sometimes you don’t see the real problems ‐ are we aren’t aware
because we can get so used to carrying it that we don’t realize it…
- we get into a habit of picking it up – sometimes without even knowing it – and don’t realize cause
it doesn’t seem that big at first
- Recognise you have it – be aware.
- Don’t lose sight of the important things
Rest (make space for this)
- Lo – I stand at the door and knock – to give you rest
- Could have team building stuff and some single people doing something – so much easier when
we share the load…
- 4 people could carry someone on a stretcher through the church – get a chain going to keep
swapping people so the load is shared, so that it keeps moving
Response
- have a rock – write on it a burden for you – may be addictions, shame etc. and bring it to the
cross – and feel the weight lifted when you let it go – could bring it forward and build an alter
instead of the cross.
