Teaching and The course will be conducted every Wednesday, 6:00pm to 9:00pm at MH 417-419. The
Learning course will have lectures, class discussions, and software exercises. Problem sets and
Activities class exercises will be given.
Assessment Student learning will be assessed using three (3) Long Examinations, Seatworks and
Methods Problem sets, and Cases. The computed grade for the course will have the following
components:
Three (3) Long Examinations 60%
Seatworks and Problem Sets 10%
Cases 20%
Attendance 10%

Computed Grade Final Grade Computed Grade Final Grade

92.0 – 100.0 1.00 68.0 – 71.9 2.50
88.0 – 91.9 1.25 64.0 – 67.9 2.75
84.0 – 87.9 1.50 60.0 – 63.9 3.00

72.0 – 75.9 2.25 DRP

Case Guidelines Cases are to be done by group with a maximum of 3 members each.

The main objective is to apply the recent topics discussed in class (descriptive and
inferential statistics, statistical tools) to an area of interest of your group, e.g. a problem in
your company, analysis of available dataset, etc. Be sure to include as many concepts as
possible. As much as possible, align topics to engineering fields.
Course Policies
Attendance Attendance will be checked and graded. A student should not miss more than 3
meetings without valid excuse, otherwise he/she will be given a grade of 5.0.
Long A student who misses a long exam without valid excuse will be given a grade of zero.
Examinations
Academic The student is expected to adhere to a high standard of individual honor and integrity.
Integrity University rules on cheating will be implemented. Cases of dishonesty on examinations
and attendance will be dealt with severe penalties. Cheating, plagiarism, and other acts
of academic dishonesty, when proven beyond reasonable doubt, will result to a grade of
5.0. or possible dismissal from the program.
Language of The lecture and discussion will be conducted using English/Filipino as the medium.
Instruction
Consultation 11am-5pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays; other times by appointment. Consultation will be
Schedule conducted at MH405, IE CompLab Research Bay. Consultation during the day of a long
exam is not allowed. Online consultation may be done thru e-mail.
Online Announcements, if any, and important files (e.g. lectures) will be distributed thru e-mail.
