Rod Blum for Congress October 2018 Quantitative Research

With nearly one month remaining until the November 2018 elections, Rod Blum is within
striking distance of Democrat challenger Abby Finkenauer. Current polling of this race
indicates that Finkenauer currently leads Blum by 1-point, 44% to 43%. An additional 8% of the
electorate is undecided for whom they will vote this November. This race is currently within
the margin of error.

This poll was conducted between October 3-4, among 400 registered Iowa voters, using a
multi-frame sample of live callers and opt-in Integrated Voice Response technology of 70%
landline and 30% cell phones. This sample was split among Republicans (34%), Democrats
(36%), and Independents (30%)
using voter registration statistics
and historical turnout models.

This sample was 47% male

respondents, and 53% female
respondents. The sample was also
designed to accurately reflect the
constituency of Iowa’s First
Congressional District, taking age,
race, and geography into
consideration. The margin of
error is ± 4.9% at the 95%
confidence interval.
