Aaron Siskind

Aaron Siskind was a very important person because he turned the medium of photography on his head ,

taking pictures of whatever object he found but the object had to be simultaneously true to life and

obstract . he was one of the first photographers to combine what was known as “straight” photography

with obstraction . Aaron was born on December 4 , 1903 . He was born on new york city . His parents

weren’t found on the internet , but they were Rushians . He was the 5th son, meaning he had big family .

He had many important events , in 1950 he wrote “credo” as an artists statement for the symposium ,

“what is modern photography ? “ back in 1959 , horizon press published his first book on aaron siskind

and his photographs . in 1965 george also published a book about aaron siskind and his photographys .

aaron had many accomplishments back in 1976 he received the National Endowment for the arts grants

for the visual arts in photography . in 1971nhe was a warded the degree of honorary doctor of arts from

Colombia college in Chicago . in 1969 he was named bingham distinguished professor in humnanities at

the universities of Louisville . one of my favorites quotes about him was “ photography is a way of feeling ,

of touching , of loving . what you have caught on film is aptured forever … it remembers little things , long

after you have forgotten everything . “

This picture was taken by Aaron Siskind and I chose this picture because I feel
like it represents how you can stick to something no matter how hard it gets.
I chose this picture because I think it represents how no matter how ugly you
think something/someone is you can always find a good/pretty side to it.

I chose this picture because it makes me thing that no matter the

circumstances something/someone will stick together no matter what.
