CONCEPTION
The guiding force behind Aurolab was Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy (Dr.v)
the visionary founder of Aravind Eye Care system (AECS). Dr. V relentlessly

mid - eighties, one of ophthalmology’s greatest inventions the IOL (Intra ocular
lens) had transformed cataract surgery in the developed world. Back home,

treated by using an IOL and the only deterrent was the cost, considering that
the lenses were highly expensive.He decided that these lenses had to be made
available to all and set to think towards making it a reality.

Aurolab is sophisticated facility involved
in the manufacaturing of a wide range of
high quality opthalmic consumables and
advanced equipments. Founded in 1992 essential ophthalmic supplies and
in Madurai, Tamilnadu, a state in South
India , Aurolab is an initiative of Aravind
Eye Care System , a South India based
multi-location, speciality eye care centre
and one of the largest facilities in the
world.
The result of a passion and drive of a few
far - thinking individuals led by the
inimitable Dr.Govindappa Venkataswamy
(Dr.V),Aurolab was setup with a vison of
Celebrated its 25th year in 2016,
Aurolab has grown to be recognized
as among the leading names in all
of products including intraocular
lenses, surgical sutures, surgical
blades , pharmaceutical products,
and equipments. Today, Aurolab’s
products are exported to over 160
countries, taking the vision of
care to all far beyond the boundaries
of its place of birth.
