Position: Operation and Maintenance Engineer 11

Project Port-of-Spain Powergen Plant -- 20 Megawatts Gas Turbine

Olympus 2022-29.Inspection, recommendation and execution of
repairs on Failed Power Turbine.

Date: Jan –Sept 2011

During the above workscope it was our pleasure to work with, and along side Mr Samson
Samaroo. His responsibilities included but where not limited to;

Duties & Responsibilities

1.Conduct site visits with contractors and provide specification clarifications for Electrical,
Mechanical, and Instrumentation works.

2.Develop scope of works and Bid evaluation document.

3.Review and comment on Bid Evaluation/Bid Selection and participate in contract negotiation
for contract award.

4.Develop detailed Ghant chart of entire project.

5.Boroscope of Entire Gas Turbine inclusive of technical report, together with recommendation
for repairs.

6.Evaluation of Turbine and Compressor blades.

7.Evaluation of Power turbine.

8.Conduct Technical review and provide comments on P& ID and provide technical input during
development of work phase.

9.Complete Rewiring of control systems on both Gas Generator and Power Turbine.
10.Develop risk assessment plan and implement same.

11.Remove entire Power Turbine on Site and replaced with a serviced Power Turbine. (First time
being done in Trinidad.

12.Supervise and coordinate Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and start-up.

13. Conduct technical review and approval of the Electrical. Mechanical and Instrumentation
work on project.

14.Develop and conduct training on the Operation and Maintenance of Gas Turbine.

15.Participate in Site Accepting Testing.

16.Commission and put in service.

Evaluations of Performance

This project was extremely fast paced and involved complex mechanical and Electrical works,
frequent discussion and interaction with Alba Power (OEM) Engineers as well as expert control
system knowledge, were absolutely necessary during the project. The ability of Mr. Samaroo to
quickly assimilate and precisely interpret technical data was of paramount importance to deliver
the project within budget, on time and to standards.

Mr. Samaroo led this effort and was able to deliver results sound in Engineering. He provided
clear directions, detailed technical support and was able to motivate project team to willingly
work long hours to fulfill project objects. A job that was very well executed.
