PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS

The aim of Parent/Teacher meetings:

 to intimate the parents about the child’s performance at school

 to establish very strong relationship with the parent community
 to inform the parents about the strengths and weaknesses of their children
 to encourage parental involvement
 to inform the teachers how children are coping outside school
 to establish an ongoing relationship and communication with parents
 to equip the teachers/parents with the progress and attainment of their wards
 to help children realize that home and school are working together
Informal Parent/Teacher Meetings:

We, at NIMS, encourage effective and informal communication between parents and
teachers. However, parents are discouraged to refrain from meeting the class teacher at the
class door, school gate and on the corridor on a number of grounds:

 A teacher cannot adequately supervise her class and speak with the parent
simultaneously
 It is difficult to be discrete when so many children are standing close by
 It can be embarrassing for a child when his/her parent is talking to the teacher at a
classroom door.

Formal Meeting:
Formal timetabled Parent/Teacher meetings take place in Term One. Parents can also meet
the teachers by taking prior appointment, if they wish to arrange a meeting at any stage
during the year
