CALIBRATION OF BURET
A 50-mL buret was first washed with soap and water, and then rinsed with tap
water, followed by distilled water. The buret was filled with distilled water and then
the air bubbles were eliminated by leaning the buret to nearly horizontal with the
stopcock open. Once the air bubbles were completely eliminated, the buret was
mounted to the buret stand and then filled by pre-boiled distilled water to the 0.00 mL
mark. To remove any suspended drop of the buret, the buret tipped was touched to a
clean beaker. The buret was allowed to stand, while a 125-mL Erlenmeyer flask was
weighed, holding the flask with a pair of tong. Exactly 10 mL of volume of water was
delivered and then weighed. The same procedure was done using 5 mL volume of
water. The correction factor must agree within the 0.01 mL range. Table 9 shows the
calibration data of the buret.
To better understand the tables given, a scatter plot was constructed by plotting
the true volume delivered by the buret against the volume reading of the buret. Figures
13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 illustrates the calibration of the buret graphically.

Volume of Buret, mL
Using the equation of the line, the true volume of the titrant
delivered can be calculated using the equation of the line, For example, if
the volume delivered by the buret is 9.4 mL, then the true volume would
be;
