 INTRODUCTION

Density is a fundamental concept in science.

Not only is it intimately tied to the mass of an
object, but density is also central to
determine whether something will float when
placed on the surface of a fluid. It is one of
the most important things we can know
about substance.
Density is a principle used in many things in
daily life. This project was aimed to apply this
concept to create two types of layed drink
based on the concept of density.

1.0 WHAT IS DENSITY ?
Density is the quantity of the mass of a
substance per unit volume.
The unit of density is gram per cubic
centimetre or g/cm3 (g cm-3).
Measuring density is typically done by
weighing an object, determining its volume
and dividing it out.

Denser substance will sink in liquids that

are less dense.
Substances that are less dense will rise
above or float in liquids that are denser.

Below is the easy formula to find out the
density, mass, and volume:

Let’s create two types of drink that has
different density.
We name them Fruity Rainbow and Purple
Diamond Code.

2.1: Fruity Rainbow

The ingredients we need to make fruity
rainbow:
sticky mango juice ( 130 ml)
yogurt (110 ml)
watermelon juice ( 110 ml)
Two Spoon of sugar

Utensil needed:
spoon
glass

Steps:
1. Put sticky mango juice into the glass.
2. Spoon the yogurt into the glass slowly as
second layer.
3. Pour watermelon into
the glass slowly.

What you see ?

You will see the fruity
rainbow drink clearly show
out 3 layers of different
colours and densities.

How did it happen ?

This happen because the mango juice is
very sticky and its density is the densest.

 Secondly, yogurt is the second densest. It is
denser than the watermelon juice, but less
dense than sticky mango juice. Yogurt can
make our body healthier and stronger.
Besides, yogurt can also different out the
colours of drink easily.
Lastly we added watermelon juice. Its
density is the least, and the colour is also look
very nice and attractive.
The Fruity Rainbow is very healthy and
looks beautiful. This drink is special, we hope
you like it.

2.2: Purple Diamond Code:
The ingredients we need to make Purple
Diamond Code:
Syrup ( 60 ml)
Soda drinks ( 100 ml)
Bunga telang tea ( 120 ml)
Ice ( 1 cup)

Utensil needed:
Spoon
Glass

Steps:
1. Pour syrup into the cup followed by soda
drink.
2. Put a glass of ice into the drink.
3. Pour Bunga Telang Tea into the glass slowly.

What will you see ?
You will also see 3
layers or let’s say 3
colours.

How did it happen?

That happened
because these
ingredients are of
different densities. The syrup is the densest
liquids. It can sweeten the drinks.
Next, the soda drinks made the drink
carbonated. It will be in the middle, because
it is denser than ice and bunga telang tea, but
less dense than syrup.
Then, add the ice until the glass is full. The
ice is able to separate the colour of soda

drinks and bunga telang tea. Lastly, add the
bunga telang tea. It is natural and look
beautiful. This can show out the special
design of this drink. The flower tea is also a
type of herb. It can freshen our body.
