にせよ (ni shiro/ni seyo)

Meaning: even though; even if; whether… or

Formation:

Verb-casual + にしろ/にせよ
Noun + (である)にしろ/にせよ
いadj + にしろ/にせよ
なadj + (である)にしろ/にせよ

Example sentences:

若いにせよ、毎日残業したら病気になるよ。
Even if you re still young, you ll become ill if you keep working
overtime every day.
wakai ni seyo, mainichi zangyou shitara byouki ni naru yo.

たった三日の旅行にせよ、準備は必要だ。
Even though it s only a three-day trip, we still need to prepare.
tatta mikka no ryokou ni seyo, junbi wa hitsuyou da.

熱が下がったにせよ、しばらく安静が必要です。
Even though your temperature has come down, you still need to rest
quietly in bed.
netsu ga sagatta ni seyo, shibaraku ansei ga hitsuyou desu.

上司に命令されてやったことであるにしろ、責任はきみにもある。
Even though you only did what your boss ordered you to, you also will
be held responsible.
joushi ni meirei sarete yatta koto de aru ni shiro, sekinin wa kimi ni mo
aru.

欠席するにせよ連絡してください。
Even if you re not coming, please contact us.
kesseki suru ni seyo renraku shite kudasai.

誰がやっているにせよ、取っ捕まえたいものだ。
I only hope we can catch whoever is doing it.
dare ga yatte iru ni seyo, tottsukamaetai mono da.

入試の結果が悪いにせよ通知だけおねがいします。
Even if the entrance exam s results are bad, please just give me the
notification.
nyuushi no kekka ga warui ni seyo tsuuchi dake wa kudasai.

いくら忙しいにせよ食事をしないのはよくない。
No matter how busy you are, it s not good to skip meals.
ikura isogashii ni seyo shokuji o shinai nowa yokunai.
