My Imaginary State

Territory: Dubai----It is wonderful place to live, with innovative infrastructure, high salary, excellent career
opportunities, social contacts and full of activities. It is better place to travel and enjoy the life. Besides,
standard of living is brilliant compared to others. Dubai has an are of 4,114 km square positioned at 25.2697°N
55.3095°E.

Population: 20,000,000

Government: representative democracy but I am president who is elected by people

Sovereignty: Government is not in control but it only serves the people. Power depends on majority of people
and every region is allowed to have their own regulation.
Nation or Not?

It is not nation because I don’t want my population to share the same culture, language, economic life. I prefer
my population to be whatever they want to be, they do not need to share these stuffs because if people share the
same culture and others, it might influence their views, their values, hopes, loyalties, worries to be the same and
there will be no challenging. In contradict, inequality can be considered the main problem if that happen.

Type of government: Representative democracy

Effects (or potential effects) of the type of government chosen (at least 1 paragraph - 5 sentences):
With representative democracy, the country will be more efficiency in several ways whether it be
economic, politics and social. Citizens still have a voice and still have their opinion heard as well as they have a
chance to choose their representative. Government will rely on majority of the people when they make decision.
Additionally, country will be more open to change whenever the people want to. Limited power will never exist
so, if leader do not perform well, there will be chance to change. People have freedom and right to do what they
want as long as they are not harm other. Still, there will be big gap between rich and poor. Corruption may
happen because there is space for some politician to bribe. Another disadvantage is that the minorities voice still
be herd but it may have huge influence in the state because I rely on majority. With this type of government, the
process of accomplishing something is slow but it will mostly serve people needs.

Type of State: Federal

The power is divided to different entities and each of them has given power to control their region.
Regional communities can create their own regulations thus, it may give plenty of benefit to country. For
instances, the main governments will notice whether this law that is made by local work well or not so, they can

desire if it will work in another region. Also, this way will lead government to find the most satisfaction and
reasonable laws to use in each region. Freedom of people will depend on regulation that each region uses but
mostly people still have freedom with harm principle. Education and Social welfare still exist but it is not the
main focus. With the federal, it will prevent one to have absolute control over citizens.
Montesquieu

Government will totally follow Montesquieu idea as I do not expect someone to hold limited power but
power should be balanced instead. In my perspective, it may reduce the problem of society and improve quality
of the country as the separation of power can prevent one from abuse power and reduce corruption rate namely
bribe, embezzlement, extortion etc. People will feel safer and there will be impartial for everyone. In contrast, it
is not suitable and convenient to create law because of the separation of power as well as it is quite impossible
in each of branches to have balance power, one may hold the more power than others.

Hobbes, Locke, or Rousseau

Idea of my government is similar to Locke in which government share their power and the purpose of it is
to protect people property and keep them in order not to control them. Also, people will have right to rebel
against government. With this idea, investment is free to everyone without concern from government. People
are free to own land or other private property. On the other hand, there can be fight and inequality between
people because human is selfish creature as Hobbes said.

Authoritarianism or Libertarianism (government power)

My idea government power would be libertarianism which it believes more on individualism. People have
right to be secure in their life, liberty and property and also free to pursue their own lives with respect to others.
But there will be law for people who want to give their birth. For instances, if you want to have a kid, the
average of your income must be around 100,000 so that your kid will be supported by their parents to the
fullest. Some theory is based more on authoritarianism because if this law does not exist, it may harm others as
these children whom are not raised properly in term of education. Perhaps, they may turn themselves to be
crime in the future. Military, police or other that are important to secure the sustainable of the state will be
supported.
Socialism or Liberalism (economics)

and then describe how this can or will affect its citizens)

My government is similar to liberalism which mean I trust more on free market. Free market will lead producer
to create product that satisfy consumer at reasonable price because each of the enterprise have to face
challenging. For example, they have to produce the product at low cost of production and sell it at the regular
price in order to make profit. Besides, it will lead the market to go beyond their ability, more innovation product
will be produced due to the trend of customers. With this type of economics, it will not only encourage the
entrepreneurs to compete but also encourage customer to purchase the innovative and development products in

which GDP will strategically increase as well as country wealth. The over competition can lead to some types of
corruption to gain benefit over company. In contrast, tax still exist but the charge might be low. My country
only require tax for improve infrastructure such as public road, transport etc. Hence, social welfare and
education will not be totally support in this country. Individuals are open to invest in trade and industry for
profit (private ownership) which will boost the economic. On the other hand, the minority who are not good
enough may not have a chance to build and develop their own enterprise.
