Principais Indefinite Pronouns

 Somebody ( alguém) ◾ someone(alguém) ◾ something (alguma coisa) usados em


frases afirmativas
 Anybody (alguém) ◾ anyone (alguém) ◾ anything (alguma coisa) usados em
frases negativas e interrogativas
 Nobody (ninguém) ◾ no one (ninguém) ◾ nothing (nada) usados em frases
afirmativas
 Everybody (todo mundo) ◾ everyone (todo mundo) ◾ everything (todas as coisas)

Pessoas e coisas
Quando usamos o pronome indefinido referindo-se a pessoas, colocamos body or one
no final; quando estamos nos referindo a coisas, colocamos thing no final.

◾ Everybody likes him. (Todos gostam dele.)

◾ She tried to contact them but no one answer the phone. (Ela tentou contatá-los mas
ninguém atendeu o telefone).

◾ She gave me everything she had. (Ela me deu tudo o que ela tinha)

◾ Can anyone talk to me? (Alguém pode me responder?)

◾ Nobody is here to see the good job I did.

Verbos no singular
Sempre que usamos os pronomes indefinidos, os verbos que aparecem logo após
sempre virão no singular:

◾Nobody is here to cook. (Ninguém está aqui para cozinhar)

◾Something is strange. (Alguma coisa está estranha)

Terminaçoes body/one
Sempre que os pronomes indefinidos terminarem com body/one, usamos they/their.

◾Everybody enjoyed the party. They were all very happy. (Todos adoraram a festa.
Eles estavam muito felizes)

– Nothing (nada)
– No one, nobody (ninguém): usado para pessoas

– Anyone, anybody (alguém): pode ser usado tanto um quanto o outro, desde que a
frase seja negativa ou seja uma pergunta.

– Someone, somebody (alguém): em frases afirmativas / pode ser usando tanto um


quanto o outro.
