RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
According to the tech infusion website the tool is described as a “web-based presentation and storytelling that uses a single
canvas instead of traditional slides”. It is said to be more effective than PowerPoint. Prezi has a path feature that connects slides
in a unique way. The zoom in and zoom out feature allows the user to focus on a single image or it shifts the audience’s attention
from the text to the speaker. It is creative in that it moves away from a normal presentation and it is not just slide to slide.
Engagement activities can be included to increase engagement and collaboration. Google slides is better for introducing terms
and background information, but prezi is better for engagement.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PRESENTATION


How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote students’ presentation/speaking/communication skills?

My idea is to use standard S2 C1 PO4 and encourage students to use prezi. Students will describe the occupation they are
interested in by explaining the salary, pros, cons, outlook, and jobs available every year. If possible, it would be helpful to provide
a template already made, an example of an outstanding prezi, and a rubric for the students. The presentation makes their ideas
more organized and it promotes more confidence in their communication skills. My mentor had a similar lesson and she had the
students use the ASU major search as a resource. Then they would go in depth with that major by evaluating the possible
occupations it offeres. I could possibly allow ASU to be used as a resource.

Some students will have an easier time presenting because they are presenting on their passion and they will be involved.
However, I understand that there are students that are not interested in science and may have a difficult time presenting. I also
must consider accommodation plans and give the option of partner presentations or have them present to me. It is important to
still have the person go through the assignment, but it has to be modified. This way they can gain some growth by going at an
appropriate pace. Overall, these presentation skills should be developed before they go into high school. This standard and
integration idea will give them the practice they need.

I believe it is a 3. There are other ways to do this lesson without technology, but this is the best way to have students share their
career choices with others. The creativity of the prezi draws in the attention of the audience which makes students active and
engaged in learning content. In the case of my standard, students are engaged in learning about career choices different from
their own.
