Construct a model of the solar system

You will need the following materials

1. 9 different-sized balls made of either Styrofoam or crumpled newspaper

2. A board big enough to hold all the balls
3. Glue or prestick

Method

 Step 1: use balls of different sizes to represent the planets. Keep the sizes of the planets in
mind. Use figures 11.1 and 11.7 as a reference
 Step 2: build your model on the board. Attach the balls to the board with glue or prestick.
 Step 3: Label each object in the Solar System.
 Step 4: Make the distances between the planets as close a representation as possible. It is
not possible to construct an accurate scale model, so use approximate sizes and distances.
 Step 5: Present your model to the class and hand it in to your teacher.
