II. A car moves to the right at a speed of 20 m/sec and accelerates at a
rate of 2 m/sec/sec (direction - to the left) for 15 seconds.
Determine:
a. the magnitude and direction of the velocity at the end of the 15
second interval,
b. the displacement of the car during the 12th second.
c. the times when the car is 60 meters to the right of its starting
point.

VI. The position of a particle is given by:

x(t) = (.75 m/s3)t3 - (9.00 m/s2)t2 - 6 m

a. What is the position, velocity and acceleration at 2 seconds?

b. When is the object's instantaneous velocity a maximum or minimum?
d. When is the object's instanteneous acceleration zero? What is the
object's position and velocity at this time?
IV. A man stands on the edge of a cliff and throws a ball up at a velocity
of 20 m/sec. The ball strikes the ground at the base of the cliff with a
SPEED of 50 m/sec.

a. How long did it take for the ball to return to the level of the top
of the cliff. What is its displacement and velocity at this
point?
b. How tall is the cliff?
c. How long was the ball in the air?
d. Determine the velocity of the ball each of the three times when it
is a distance of 12 meters from its starting point.
V. A hypothetical spaceship takes a straight-line path from the earth to
the moon, a distance of about 4x108 meters. Suppose it accelerates at
10 m/sec2 for the first 100 minutes (6000 seconds), then travels at
constant speed until the last 100 minutes (6000 seconds), when it
accelerates at -10 m/sec/sec, just coming to rest at it reaches the
moon.

a. What is the maximum speed attained?

b. What is the distance traveled during the constant speed phase?
c. At what times and distances from the earth does the spaceship have a
speed of 2000 m/sec?
