They reveal, most of all, his deep identification with Brazilian culture. The first pieces were written in 1952 and originally published by Ricordi Brazil in three separate sets. The first, with Sonha Iaid, Serdes, Minha Noiva é Bonita, Reminiscéncias Portuguesas, Escuta Minhalma, Agog6, and Batucada appeared in 1955. The second, containing Impressdes de Rua and Requebra ‘Morena was released in 1958 and the last one, Improvisos, in 1971. The first set, with some changes was re-issued in the 1970s. Since then, the Certas Brasileiras have been recorded throughout the world by many guitarists. Unfortunately, I never met Isaias Sévio but in my diligence of teaching myself the guitar, his name, through his works, became more and more familiar to me. When he passed away, I felt like T had lost a very close friend.
