Abstract
The existing parking management systems require man power to supervise the oper-
ations and it also requires manual recording of data in excel sheets or on paper. For huge
parking, scenario is very hectic and to keep track of each vehicle becomes very difficult
and the human error also comes into the picture. Because of all these issues, automated
parking management is required. Nowadays, the modern world requires smart cities and
the smart cities require automation techniques in its various aspects. The use of Radio
Frequency Identification known as RFID technology reduces human efforts as well as
errors.
The main objective of this project is to identify the person who has parked his vehicle
in unauthorized area and fine those owners. This is used to avoid the illegal parking,
bribing the personnel, threatening them etc. In this project we use the RFID tag and
RFID receiver. The RFID receiver receives the car number from the transmitter (RF
tag) and deducts a particular amount from the owners bank account for parking in a no
parking area.

Chapter 1

Introduction

The parking violation is the act of parking the vehicle in the unauthorized place or
parking in a restricted area. The current scenario in major cities and towns is the ever-
growing human population as well as the vehicle population. Those things creates the
rise to need for the multi-level parking lots. The free parking is the most prevalent forms
of parking in India. In many cases people park on street side. Which leads to traffic
jam and inconvenience to public. Finding those vehicles and fining those owners become
difficult for government. Government uses towing vans to tow the vehicles which are
parked in an un authorized area, but many a times it causes damage to vehicles and it
also require huge man power and resources. The another method adopted by government
is clipping the cars which are parked in no parking area but even in this case people
break those clips and try to escape from fines and it also causes damage of government
property. So a solution to this problem is automated detection of vehicles which are
parked in no parking area with the help of RFID.
RFID is one of the most fundamental technologies that enables wireless data trans-
mission. Although it has been known for a very long time, has not been very often used
in industry. The reason is it was expensive and no standardization among the manu-
facturing companies. It took a long time for it to be widely utilized. This technology
is older than bar codes but it is more efficient than them. In this project we use RFID
transmitter and receiver. RF transmitter transmits the car number which is received
by the RF receiver. RF tag is present in every car, so whenever a car is parked in no
parking area, the RF receiver present in the no parking area receives the information.
In this project we first we alert the car owner by a buzzer and a LCD display, and even
after that the car does not move out of the no parking area then trough the received car

number we will get the owners bank account details and fine will be deducted from the
owners bank account.

Scope of the project

This project will prove to be very beneficial for RTO. As RTO has various other methods
to fine the car owners who have parked in no parking area but after certain extent they
prove to be in efficient. For instance if there is a crowded place like market and a car is
parked in a no parking area then it gets difficult for the towing van to get their and tow
the vehicle and even if it gets their, there are chances of vehicle getting damaged while
moving it. The another problem is even the owner has to face the inconvenience of going
to the RTO office and then paying the fine and releasing his vehicle, which consumes
lot of time. And in many cases owner try to bribe the officer. So our project will
eliminate all the drawbacks of the current manual system. As this project is completely
automated, detecting the vehicles parked in no parking area and collecting the fine from
those owner becomes very easy. Due to this it will reduce manpower and resources. And
due to automated system, people will take the rules seriously which will cause less traffic
jams, less inconvenience to other people and RTO.

Abstract:People owning vehicles face parking problems in most metropolitan area,
especially during peak hours. The difficulty roots from not knowing where the park-
ing spaces are available at the given time, even if this is known; many vehicles may
pursue a small number of parking spaces which in turn leads to serious traffic con-
gestion. This paper focuses on different smart parking techniques developed to over-
come said problem using various wireless sensor network and providing real-time data
analysis from the sensors, some papers include system based on resource allocation
and reservation of parking lot which have various problems in efficiently achieving the
goals. The given paper would be useful for new researchers for study of various guided
parking and information techniques and algorithms which are covered in this paper.

Abstract:The main objective is to avoid the cramming in the car parking area by
implementing an efficient car parking system along with a user-friendly application for
an ease of use. Normally at public places such as multiplex theatres, market areas,
hospitals, function-halls, offices and shopping malls, one experiences the discomfort in
looking out for a vacant parking slot, though its a paid facility with an attendant/
security guard. The parking management system is proposed to demonstrate hazel free
parking. The proposed system uses infrared transmitter-receiver pairs that remotely
communicate the status of parking occupancy to the raspberry pi and displays the vacant
slots on the display at the entrance of the parking so that the user gets to know the
availability /unavailability of parking space prior to his/her entry into the parking place.
Implementation involves minimal human interaction and provides a seamless parking
experience thereby reducing a lot of time wasted by the user in parking his/her vehicle.

Abstract:With the exponential increase in the number of vehicles and world pop-
ulation day by day, vehicle availability and usage on the road in recent years, finding
a space for parking the bike is becoming more and more difficult with resulting in the
number of conflicts such as traffic problems. This is about creating a reliable system
that takes over the task of identifying free slots in a parking area and keeping the record
of vehicles parked very systematic manner. This project lessens human effort at the park-
ing area to a great extent such as in case of searching of free slots by the driver and
calculating the payment for each vehicle using parking area. The various steps involved
in this operation are vehicle identification using RFID tags, free slot detection using IR
sensors and payment calculation is done on the basis of period of parking and this is
done with the help of real time clock.

Methodology

4.1 Block Diagram

We are planning to make the system to be work in following way:- The system has two
parts RF transmitter (RF tag) and RF receiver. The RF tag used is the active tag as its
range is from 1 feet to 1 km. The RF transmitter transmits the information serially so for
that we require a encoder which will transmit the car number serially. The car number
is fed to the encoder which will encode the data and the transmitter will transmit the
information serially. In the receiver side we use IC 89s51. It is the latest version of 8951
family as it allows In System Programming (ISP). We have a RF receiver which will
receive the information transmitted by the transmitter. As the information received is
in encoded form it will be decoded with the help of decoder. Which will be then fed
to IC 89s51. To know weather the information is correct or not it will be displayed on
the 16*2 LCD display. Here we use a pressure switch to detected the car in no parking
region. Whenever a car is parked in a no parking area, the spring in the pressure switch
gets closed and informs the controller that the car is detected. Once the car is parked
in no parking area, a warning will be given to the owner to move his car out of the no
parking area. That is controller will count the timer and the output will be in the form
of buzzer, that means controller output will be given to the relay which will be further
given to the buzzer. But even after that the warning if car does not move out of the
no parking area then we will receive the car number trough RFID and for deducting
the fine from car owners bank account we will give trigger to the PC or laptop. As
controllers output is serial data and in PC we only have USB so we will use serial to
USB converter. So this will trigger the PC. On PC our car number, mobile number, old

balance, then after detecting the fine its new balance all this will be displayed on PC. So
in this way automatically fine will be deducted from the car owners bank account. But
in some cases owner can claim that he was not present still amount has been deducted
from his account so for a proof PC will trigger the camera and camera will capture the
images. In this way we can detect the cars in no parking area and also fine the owners.
This system will reduce manpower and resources.
