Das Ende des Ernste

Weltkrieg
(English: The End of the
First World War)
By: Nicholas (Calico) Beste
(An alternate history)
End of
the Tsardom

As of this year, 1928, the

Russian Tsardom has
been dead for 11 years.
With the abdication of the
Tsar in early 1917, and
the following
Bolshevik Revolution later
the same year, the idea of
a Monarchist Russia is
long dead. However, due
to German intervention,
Russia was saved from
the Socialist threat.
However, Russia is but a
shell of its former self,
having been torn apart
by independence movements
in the East and West.

The House of the
Habsburgs
Despite the territories gained during
the Ernste Weltkrieg, the fortunes of the
House of the Habsburg, and the
Austrian Empire they once
controlled, quickly reversed. Galicia
was given to Poland and Ukraine as gifts
to the new German Client States, but soon
after, the Slavic territories in the East
would declare independence. The Hungarian
would follow suit and crush the last hopes
of Austria as a major power. With
Germany unwilling to help the
Austrians due to their own
imperial pressures, Central Europe Is
now split between Hungarians, Italians,
Slavs, and Germans, where once only one
empire stood.
The Prussian
Eagle Soars

The end of the Weltkrieg is

seen by many to be
Germany's greatest triumph.
It defeated both Russia and
France, and even criplped
the British Empire within
five years. But no war is
won for free. Much blood
and fortune was spent to
gain Germany it's victory.
And from this victory,
Germany made itself an
Empire. Most of Africe, and
Eastern Europe now lays in
the shadow cast by the
wings of the Prussian
Eagle, but it has yet to be
seen if these gains will

The Sick Man
Succumbs
After centuries of stagnation and decay,
the Ottoman Empire would officially
collapse into an official Republic in
1925. From the empire came the United
Arabian Kingdom lead by the Shah of Hejaz,
and the Egyptian Empire which holds sway
over the Sudan, and what is now formerly
Italian Tripolitania. It is yet to be seen
what kind of future the Near East has. But
one detail is guranteed, it will not be
led by the Ottomans.
The Sun Rises

The Japanese Empire,

despite being part of the
losing side of the
Weltkrieg, has continued to
grow as her neighbors
weaken. Russia has
collapse, leaving only the
Free Republic of Siberia in
the East. The once sizable
Empire of the Qing has
collapsed into feuding
warlords, leading to the
entire East Asian
coast being completely
undefended. The Sea of
Japan is now controlled by
the Empire on every coast
and outlet. What the empire
will do next has yet to be
seen.
The Reshuffling
of Africa
Nearly overnight, with the signing of a
few treaties, all of Africa was once again
split between European Powers. This time
though, Germany would replace Britain as
the dominant colonizer in the region.
Displayed on the left are the 1913 (top)
and 1919 (bottom) borders of the African
continent. It is uncertain whether the
Prussians new claims will be feasible, or
if this "Mittel-Afrika" will collapse in
on itself.
Germany Alone

Even with their successes in

the Weltkrieg, the Germans
now stand alone. Their
Austrian and Ottoman allies
have crumbled. Bulgaria is
more worried about its own
borders than that of German
interest in the Balkans.
While the Prussian Eagle has
spread its wings East and
West, enemies still lay
beyond. The Kingdom of Russia
to the East eyes Ukraine, The
French Republic eyes Alsace
and Belgium, and the United
Kingdom of Great Britain
longs for a return of its
empire. The Weltkrieg ended 9
years ago in 1919, but now,
every year, the threat of a
2nd Weltkrieg grows ever
closer.
