1. (Renewable Energies and Energy Conservation)

Abstract: The conceptual basis of renewable energies and their socio-economic as
well as environmental advantages implied in their rational usage are highlighted. The
necessity to reduce our dependency on non renewable energies are emphasized, furthe-
remore, their negative impacts on the environment and thus the urgent need of seaching
for and usage of renewable and environmentally sound energies are briefly mentioned.
The conservation effeots constitutute a rational and an urgent method of reducing the
amount of energy being wasted and thus supporting sustainable development. [1]

2. (Energı́a eléctrica a partir de recursos geotérmicos.: Estado

actual y perspectivas a nivel mundial.)
Abstract: Geothermal energy is used today in several countries for electrical power
production. Although technology used is well established, it represents only a small
percentage of world electricity production due to the fact that only some of the scarce
high temperature reservoirs existing in the world are used. Nowadays the development
of new exploitation techniques will convert in limitless, in a humanity-needs scale, this
renewable resource. Some studies foresee that geothermal power production will be a
key stone in the supply of electricity worldwide in a few years. Today rapid growing
of the number of geothermal installations in Germany is a clear example of what may
happen in other countries in a near future. [2]

3. Performances Analysis of Grid connected PV system in the

perspective of use in a smart house in Algeria
Abstract: The electricity consumption in Algeria is rising continuously, this con-
sumption was about 48.87 TWh in the year 2011, (with an increasing rate of 8.2 %
from 2010). The daily load curve is characterized by two load peaks in the morning
and evening periods. The Algerian government has taken measures that consist of in-
troducing renewable energies in order to meet the future electricity demand. In fact,
PV systems constitute an alternative, especially during the morning period when solar
radiation is abundant. Therefore, the application of Smart Grid concept for electrical
grid management purpose will have a beneficial impact in terms of reliability and se-
curity. In this paper, we present an experimental study of a grid connected PV system
and the performance evaluation under real meteorological conditions with a web-based
monitoring procedure applied to the grid connected PV system management. We found
that the performance ratio PR lies between 51 % and 62 %.

4. Educational tools in order to promote the self-learning.

Practical case of study: Dimex SFCR
Abstract: For the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the ETCS credit
takes into account both the teaching hours and the student work. This approach involves
a change in the methodological strategy used in the traditional teaching. The application
of the Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) actively contributes to
this change. In this work, an educational application, Dimex SFCR (Dimensionado de
sistemas fotovoltaicos conectados a la red), is presented. It allows the student not only
to design grid connected photovoltaic (GCPV) systems and to study the performance
of this type of systems, but also helps them to understand the calculation methods con
be used in an autonomous way

6. Challenges of Biomass in a Development Model Based on

Renewable Energies
Abstract: Although fire has been known to mankind for about 500,000 years, the
implementation of biomass energy in the world has barely changed since then, having
been used mainly for heat production. To this end, an estimated global consumption
of biomass accounts for 10.6 % of total world consumption of primary energy. However,
the use of biomass as transportation fuel or for generation of electricity is not displayed
in the annual world, European, or national statistics, as if its contribution to primary
energy consumption was insignificant. What is the reason behind this? Why is the
development of biomass only limited to its thermal use? Why is the production of
biomass for electricity and transportation purposes not increasing? And what is then
happening to biomass? The present article addresses issues that, in our view, limit the
incursion of biomass in current energy systems and provides some answers to solve
them.[3]

7. Sustainable Product-Service System Applied to Distribu-

ted Renewable Energies
Abstract: We argued in previous chapters that Distributed Renewable Energy
(DRE) generation is a promising approach towards sustainable energy for All.[4]
