The Wirsbo-PEX® pipe

Wirsbo-PEX pipes ...

Cross-linking
Wirsbo-PEX is a pipe for a wide range of applications. The pipe is made from
cross-linked high-density polyethylene (PE-X) in accordance with the Engel
process. Cross-linking is a process, which changes the chemical structure of
the plastic material in such a way that the polymer chains are connected with
each other to form a strong three-dimensional net of chemical bonds.
The new chemical structure makes it impossible to melt or dissolve the
polymer, without first destroying its structure. Wirsbo-PEX pipes are suitable
for use at pressures and temperatures for which previously only metal pipes
were appropriate.

Some facts Wirsbo-PEX material has features common to most plastics and some,
which are unique:
It is unaffected by corrosion or erosion
It is resistant to additives in concrete
With it’s small thermal expansion forces, it will not cause cracks
neither in the PE-X material nor in the concrete in which it is
laid
It is crack-resistant for scratches of up to a depth of 20% of the
wall thickness
It has very low friction, resulting in small pressure drop
It has a low weight
It is flexible enough to allow small bending radii
It is flexible at temperatures down to –40°C
It tolerates temperatures from -100°C to +110°C
It has a flexibility, which will absorb noise generated at any given
point within the pipe
Environmentally friendly
It is a very clean pipe that is used in hospital environments, e.g.
dialysis and clinics.
... for various applications
Wirsbo Tap Water System
We offer a complete easy-to-install and water damage safe tap water
system, based on the Wirsbo-PEX pipe. The pipes channelled through
conduits can be laid safely concealed within building structures. One
single seamless length of Wirsbo-PEX Pipe-in-conduit from the manifold
all the way to the draw-off point simplifies design and installation work.

Wirsbo Underfloor Heating System

Wirsbo Underfloor Heating System has become the
industry standard for comfortable heating of domestic homes,
offices and public buildings. The heating system circulates warm
water through pipes that can be installed under virtually any type of
floors. Both Wirsbo-pePEX - and Wirsbo-evalPEX pipes have been
specially designed and developed for this kind of heating system.

Wirsbo Radiator Connection System

Wirsbo-evalPEX pipes are also used for radiator connections and
feeder pipelines for hot water. The Wirsbo-evalPEX pipe for heating
applications are mostly placed inside a conduit, which increases the
security against water damage. Insulated Wirsbo-evalPEX pipes are also
used in district heating applications for underground laying.

Wirsbo Snow and Ice Melting System

Warm water circulating through pipes laid just under
the surface, keep airports, streets, car parks, pedestrian concourses
and pavements free from snow and ice right through the winter.
A similar system can also be used to make ice rinks.

Special applications
The strong and unique properties of Wirsbo-PEX
can be used in a wide range of demanding applications,
e.g. mining, electrical - and medical applications.
