CCD REMINDERS…..

PERMISSION SLIPS DUE BY NOVEMBER 14!!! First through fourth grade students have an
opportunity to go to Ottawa to see a live Nativity for a field trip on November 30. The students took notes
home last Wednesday for their parents to read, sign, and return to the classroom teachers. Please respond
by November 14.

The religious education teachers will be teaching Protecting all God's Children lessons November 28.
Opt-out forms will be in the back of church if parents do not want their child/children to participate.
These forms will have the lesson titles for each grade level listed on them. Opt-out forms need to
signed by a parent and sent back to the classroom teacher by November 14.

The 7th-12th grade students will have a guest presenter – SEBASTIAN D’AMICO, for their “Protecting All God’s Children” lessons.
Their lessons are on Internet Safety and Pornography; and they will have these lessons in the Knights Hall on November 28 at 7 PM.
Sebastian D’Amico would like for parents to join him and their children that evening. PLEASE COME AND LISTEN to this important
information. ………The CCD Teaching Staff

with it!!! If you did not sign up this round, please sign up when we do it again! 

Knights of Columbus officers and members are beginning to sell Lottery Tickets for the 2019-2020 drawing, which
begins in March 2019. If you haven’t been contacted, contact your friendly K of C member soon OR purchase at the
Biscuit and Gravy Breakfasts. These tickets make PERFECT Christmas gifts!

More than 70% of all adults neglect to make out a will; many do not keep it up to date. Think about
getting yours done or reviewed. You will be doing your heirs a service. In addition, consider
helping ST. JOSEPH PARISH through a bequest. For more information, contact the parish office.

MARRIAGE MINUTE
A Little Goes a Long Way!
In this weekend’s first reading, a destitute widow provides a cup of water and a small loaf
of bread for the prophet Elijah, and her generosity is rewarded with a miracle. Her meager
offering sustains them until the famine ends.
Like the widow, when we offer our spouse a small kindness from our limited stock,
miracles often occur. Dr. Greg Popcak stresses “caretaking in conflict” as one of the hallmarks of
a successful marriage. Next time you are arguing with your spouse:
• Hold hands
• Offer to bring him/her a drink or snack
• Avoid placing blame
• Use polite language
These difficult things pay off, and the miracle is that your spouse begins to believe that
your relationship is more important than any issue that comes between you!

Congratulations to our 32 students who received the

Sacrament of Confirmation this past Wednesday evening!
Thanks to their parents, Confirmation Sponsors, their CCD teachers, CCD Coordinator Rose
Redeker, Family Life Ministry Director Kay Schmidt, Abbot James Albers, Father Swamy, and all
who contributed in any way to this special moment in their lives. We also appreciate the
coordinated efforts of our Sacristans, those who prepared food for the reception, and St. Anne’s
members.
