About NMIMS
In order to meet the growing demand for management education, Shri Vile Parle Kelavani
Mandal, with the help of a donation from Narsee Monjee Educational Trust, established a
recognized Management institute of the Mumbai University in 1981.
Since then, NMIMS has grown into a flourishing University offering courses / programs across
various disciplines, such as Management, Technology, Science, Pharmacy, Architecture and
Commerce. Today, the University has over 5000 students and more than 200 faculty members.
The faculty at the University represent an eclectic mix of Industry and Academic experience;
national and international experiences.

About Finomenon – The Finance Cell

Finomenon, one of the most coveted cells of NMIMS, with its legacy spanning over a decade,
has gradually evolved into a strong scaffold for building long-standing and mutually beneficial
relationship between the corporate and student community.
Finomenon is not just a cell but the “Cradle of Finance” at NMIMS, bustling with activities
throughout the year. The cell strives to facilitate understanding of global finance and business
issues to assist in the development of future business leaders. The club is dedicated at
providing its members a networking opportunity with students, faculty, alumni, and business
leaders. Finomenon also provides the students a multitude of leadership opportunities within
the club. The cell has established itself as the largest and the most popular cell, consistently
boasting of a membership comprising more than 60% of the entire batch.

FINOMENON
Finomenon in 2010
The academic year 2010 kicked off with Finomenon launching a event called “Lords of the
Ring” in Parichay’10.

In the month of August, Finomenon launched its first Newsletter called “The Financial”. It was
the initiative taken by the Editorial wing of Finomenon.

As a part of Augustus’10, Finomenon came up with 2 major events- one at inter-collegiate level
and one at intra-collegiate level.

Finnacle: This event was hosted in association with Fourstocks.com, an Equity research
company. The events stretched for 12 days. A team of 2 was required for participation. Each team
were allocated a virtual money of 10 lakhs but were supposed to trade at real market prices. The
event saw a massive response of around 3600+ participants across the globe ( Students from
US , UK and Australia also participated). The event even attracted corporates from SBI
Capital, Infosys, etc. who were incentivized by the notion of earning returns without bearing any
risk!

Finowledge: This event was held at intra collegiate level. After the preliminary round which
was based on cracking the code and getting the next clue, top 8 teams were selected for the final
round. The teams were judged on correct passwords and the time duration taken by them to crack
it. The final round consisted of quiz session involving Business knowledge, Financial
terminologies, Current affairs, etc.

FINOMENON
Alpha Seeker: It will be an online stock picking competition spanning over two weeks. The game
will be held in two phases; Phase one will be an intra college event and Phase two will be an Inter
college event. The game will be hosted by one of India’s leading social investing community
website Stockezy.com.

More Details About the Event:

1st week - Intra College

The teams will have to add minimum 5 Picks daily. If they fail to do so they don’t qualify for the
daily prize. This is to make sure that the participants participate daily. The event would allow
participants to have maximum 20 picks in a day.

FINOMENON
Each pick will be allocated 10,000 rupees.

In a week the team can have maximum 100 picks, that is 10 Lakh rupees investment.

All picks have to be entered before market opens.

All picks will close at the end of the day.
Stockezy.com will announce and update as to which college is on top on a daily basis.

The top team will be selected every day across all colleges and all participating teams.
The P/L of the picks entered on that day will be calculated.
The team which is on top with the highest P/L will get a stipulated amount.
This is a daily prize to motivate team members to participate daily.

Top 5 teams from each college will make it to Round 2.

This is again 5 days, Day Trading Competition.

2nd week- Inter college

Max picks in a day is 20.

Min picks in a day is 5. This is to make sure that the participants participate daily.
The team which is on top with the highest P/L will get a stipulated amount.
This is a daily prize to motivate team members to participate daily.

The overall top performing team with highest P/L and satisfying the requirements will be
announced as winners.

FINOMENON
Moolyankan : A valuation-based case study event inviting entries from top 25 B schools in India.
This event is held in 3 phases where the participant teams race against each other to clear one of
the toughest B-school Finance Quiz in the 1st phase. Next, the top teams who qualify use all their
concepts to solve a case study crafted by us detailing any issue/event based on valuation faced by
our Title Sponsor (Religare). Finally, top 5 teams based on our evaluation of the case solutions
get to present to our esteemed panel of judges of which 2 are awarded for their extraordinary
effort.

FINOMENON
Dice of Zeus: In this event we would prepare a case study on M&A to be solved by the
participant teams. The shortlisting during the first phase of this event would be on the similar
lines as Moolyankan. In the 2nd phase, we will invite the top 10 teams to present and recommend
their course of action to be taken up by the protagonist in the case study. Finally, we select top 5
teams and provide additional details on case which will have direct impact on their solutions. The
top 2 teams are eventually awarded for their diligent efforts.
