Jakarta Post: Researches have found a technique to quickly assess
disorders in babies. This new method, published Wednesday in the magazine
Science Translational Medicine, is a proof of concept that it’s possible to quickly
scan a baby’s entire DNA and pinpoint a disease-causing mutation in a couple of
days instead of the more typical weeks as months. The study investigation to four
babies said that the test could be one of the first partial fruits of the revolution in
sequencing an individual’s entire DNA.
The idea behind the test is to take advantage of what is known about
disease symptoms to narrow the search for genetic. And that s a good step in the
right direction, said Dr. Jow Gray, an expert in genome analysis at Oregon Health
and Science University. “It’s big genome,” said Dr. Joe Gray, who was not
involved with the study. “How do you know what part of it to search?”
While more research needs to be done before the test is ready for

Recognized this fact and are learning to take advantage of it.
There are, however, some problems associated with this new industry. Firstly,
there is the increasing crime rate. Some locals see tourists as an easy prey because,

My family of three went to see an early screening of the new Disney
movie, “Brave” yesterday, so I thought I would write a quick “mommy” review
of the movie.
Disney definitely breaks the standard “Disney princess” mold with this
movie as Princess Merida is a fun, outing and wild girl that for once is not it
search for the love of a prince. The characters in the movie are entertaining and
I loved the way that the Scottish culture comes out in the movie. I found myself
wishing for more music though, which is one of the things that I truly love
about past Disney movie. I would compare this movie more with “Shrek” than
a movie like “Tangled”
As to the age of the kind that would like this movie I would have to say
maybe 5 years, old and up . The movie is not quite engaging enough for very
young viewers, which was a little disappointing for our three years old. There
were parts of the movie that out daughter enjoyed, but it is engaging enough for
younger viewers in the audience and made them cry, so be forewarned of this if
you are bringing children under the age of live years old.
I’ve always been a big fan of Disney movie so on a 5-star scale I would
rate this 4 – star movie. It’s definitely not a favorite, but I give it for stars the
relationship that build between Merida and her mother. I think this offers a
great lesson to appreciate your family and truly listen to each other needs and
concerns. 78

Vegetarians, about 3,2% of the US population, do not eat meat. The US

Department of Agriculture does not only include meat as part of a balanced diet,
but it also states that a vegetarian diet can meet “the recommended dietary
allowance for nutrients”.
Many proponents of vegetarianism say that eating meat harms health,
wasters resources, causes deforestation, and created pollution. They often argue
that killing animals for food is cruel and unethical since non-animal food source
are plentiful.
Human evolved to be primarily vegetarian. Humans do not have the large
mouth or long, pointed teeth of carnivores. Human teeth are short and flat for
chewing fibrous food. The liver of a carnivore can detoxify the excess vitamin A
absorbed from a meat –based diet. The human liver cannot excess Vitamin A.
It is unnecessary to take an animal’s life when vegetarian options are
available. In the US about 35 million cows, 115 millions pigs, and 9 billion birds
are killed for food each year. These animal should not have to die to satisfy an
unnecessary dietary preference.
On the other hand, many opponents of a vegetarian diet say that moderate
meat consumption is healthful, humane, and that producing vegetables causes
many of the same environmental problems as producing meat.
Eating meat is not cruel of unethical. Every organism on earth dies, as
some points, so others can live. There is nothing wrong with this cycle; it is how
nature works. Humans have been eating meat in the ancestral diet provided a
dense form of nutrients and protein that, when combined with high-calorie low-
nutrient carbohydrates such as roots, allowed us to develop our large brains and
intelligence.
Meat is the most convenient protein sources since it provides all 10
essential proteins (amino acids), as well as essential nutrients such as iron, zinc,
and the B vitamins, in one serving. Most individual plant foods do not provide
adequate levels of all 100 essential proteins in a single serving.
In my opinion, meat eaters don’t need to feel guilty. Everything we
consume, including vegetable or meat, has environmental, ethical, and health
consequence.

Glasses –also called eyeglasses (formal), spectacles, or specs (informal)-

are frames bearing lenses worm in the front of the eyes, normally for vision
correction or eye protection. Safety glasses are a kind of eyes protection against
flying debris or against visible and near visible light or radiation. Sunglasses allow
better vision in bright daylight, may protect against damage from high level of
ultraviolet light. Other types of glasses may be used for viewing visual
information (such as stereoscopy) or simply just to aesthetic of fashion values.
Historical type of glasses includes the pince-nez, monocle, lorgnette, and scissors
or scissors-glasses.
Modern glasses are typically supported by pads on the bridge of the nose and by
temple arms (sides) placed over the ears. CR-39 lenses are the most common
plastic lenses due to their low weight, high scratch resistance, low dispersion, and
low transparency to ultraviolet and infrared radiation. Polycarbonate and Trivex
lenses are the lightest and most shatter-resistance, making them the best for impact
protection.
A popular aspect of glasses is their inconvenience. Even through the creation of
flight frames such as those made of titanium, very flexible frames, and new lens
materials and optical coating, glasses can still cause problems during rigorous
sports. Visibility can be significantly reduced by becoming greasy, trapping vapor
when eating hot food, swimming, walking in the rain, or rapid temperature
changes (such as walking into a warm building from cold temperature outside).
Scraping, fracturing, or breakage of the lenses require time-consuming and costly
professional repair, though modern plastic lenses are almost indestructible and
very scratch-resistant.

had become increasingly despondent over the nuclear crisis, the ecology crisis

Supply & Demand: How Market Works

The two basic terms used most often by economist are supply and demand. The
amount of something that is available the supply-and the amount of something
that people want-the demand-make up a working market. The market is the way
in which an economic activity is organized between buyers and sellers through
their behavior and interaction with one another.
Buyers as a group, determine the overall demand for a particular product
at various prices. The interaction of buyer and sellers in the market helps to
determine the market price, thereby allocating scarce goods and services
efficiently. The price is taken into account when deciding how much of
something to consume, and also how much to produce.
The relationship between price and quantity demanded is so universal that
is called the law of demand. This law states that with all else equal, when the
price of goods rises, the quantity demanded falls and when the price falls, the
quantity demanded rises. The supply curve provides the opposite information: the
higher the price, the higher the quantity supplied – and the lower the price the
lower the quantity supplied.
A key function of the market is to find the equilibrium price when supply
and demand are in balance. At this price, the goods supplied are equal to what is
being demanded thereby bringing about the most efficient allocation of the
goods. An efficient allocation of goods in a market is one in which no one can be
made better off unless someone else is made worse off.

The characters in the movie are entertaining and I
loved the way that the Scottish culture comes out in the movie. I found myself
wishing for more music though, which is one of the things that I truly love about
past Disney movie. I would compare this movie more with “Shrek” than a movie
like “Tangled”
As to the age of the kind that would like this movie I would have to say
maybe 5 years, old and up.
It’s definitely not a favorite, but I give it for stars the
relationship that builds between Merida and her mother. I think this offers a great

SPORTSMANSHIP
Ideals, reality clash at Olympic Badminton
John Leicester
Associated press/London

In sports, as in life there are those who bend rules, and those who cheat.
They’ve always excited. And because of human frailties and pressure from
sponsors, countries, coaches and athletes themselves for medals and trophies, they
always will. But bending rules and spitting on them is not the same thing.
Olympic ideals of fair play, sportsmanship and all of that are just that – an
ideal. But the reality of the Olympic Games is that success is measured in gold,
silver and bronze.
Be good sportsman if you can but, above all, win and we will give you a
shiny medal. And because these are Olympic medals, they will bring fame and
perhaps fortune, too. Winning medals change lives. Being good sports alone rarely
do. Sad perhaps but true.
Between the Olympic ideal and the Olympic reality is a trap that eight
badminton players fell into at London 2012.
They didn’t cheat. Instead, they tried to win – by deliberately trying to
lose. They bent the rules to breaking point. But they didn’t trample on them like
doped sprinter Ben Johnson at the 1988 Seoul Olympic or Fred Lorz in 1904, the
New Yorker who hitched a ride by car for much or the Olympic marathon and
then ran over the finish line in first place. It’s not like a boxer taking a dive or a

are cheats, dammed

New York: Half of all heart patients made at least one medication – related
mistake after leaving the hospital, and guidance from a pharmacist didn’t seem to
reduce those errors, in a new study.
Consequences of mistakes- such as forgetting to take certain drugs or
taking the wrong dose – can range from side effects like constipation to more
serious drops in blood pressure. Two percents of errors were life – threatening.
Not all of the problems, however, were the fault of the patients. Some may
have resulted from medication side effects or other factors beyond the patients’
control.
Hospitals involved in the study were already taking steps to prevent
medication mistakes in addition to the extra pharmacist intervention, said Dr.
Sunil Kripalani, the study’s lead author from the Vanderbilt University Medical
Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
We were surprised to see that in spite of these efforts, that 50 percent (of
patients) were still having these medication errors,” he told Reuters health.
Although the pharmacist visits didn’t help the average patient, he added,
certain ones seemed to benefit – such as patients who were on multiple drugs or
had trouble understanding health information
As for traditionally lower – risk patients, he said other strategies to prevent

make up the brain. Brain cancer starts in just one cell. As the cell makes more and
more copies of itself, it grows to form a tumor. A malignant tumor has a capacity
to spread and is then called “brain cancer”.
“Primary brain cancer” starts within the brain, and is the main subject of
the transcripts. In contrast, “secondary brain cancer” starts in some other organs
(like lung or breast) and then spread to the brain. This is called “brain metafisis”.
They are several things that have been found to increase the risk of
developing brain cancer. Having rare family disease (such as neurofibromatosis,
Von-Hippel Lindau), Exposure to radiation, and exposure to certain chemical (like
pvc) have been connected to developing brain cancer. The risk is greater if the

Faster planes and cheaper flight are making it easier the ever before for people to
travel. In the developed societies, visiting exotic places is a sought-after status

Recognized this fact and are learning to take advantage of it.
There are, however, some problems associated with this new industry. Firstly,

that hardcore Lewis Carroll fans may find it very disappointing. The movie is
merely based on the book. It features most of the same characters and a couple of
the same locations, but the story is completely different.
Alice is no longer a little girl, but an unconventional young woman who
has the same dream of finding herself in Wonderland every night, until one day it
happen in real life. Her arrival was expected. Alice is supposed to save the
inhabitants from the evil Red Queen and get the reign back to her kind sister, the

Vegetarians, about 3,2% of the US population, do not eat meat. The US

Department of Agriculture does not only include meat as part of a balanced diet,
but it also states that a vegetarian diet can meet “the recommended dietary
allowance for nutrients”.
Many proponents of vegetarianism say that eating meat harms health,
waster’s resources, causes deforestation, and created pollution.
These animals should not have to die to satisfy an
unnecessary dietary preference.

126
24. The proponents of vegetarianism believe that …

A. Moderate meat consumption is healthful.

The respiratory system, in anatomy and physiology are organs that deliver oxygen
to the circulatory system to be transported to all the body cells. The respiratory
and circulatory system work together to deliver oxygen to cells and remove
dioxide in two-phase process called respiration.
The first phase of the respiration begin with the breathing in, or halation.
Inhalation bring air from the outside the body to the lungs. Oxygen in the air
moves from the lungs though blood vessels to the heat, which pumps the oxygen-
rich blood to the all body. Oxygen then moves from the bloodstream into cells,
which completes the first phase of respiration. In the cells, oxygen is used in a
separate energy-producing process called cell respiration, which produces carbon
dioxide as a byproduct.
The second phase of respiration begins with the movements of carbon dioxide
from the cells to the bloodstream. The bloodstream carries carbon dioxide to the
heart, which pumps the carbon dioxide-laden blood to the lungs. In the lungs,
breathing out, or exhalation, removes carbon dioxide from the body, thus
completing the respiration cycle.

27. How does a respiration cycle work?

The following text is for questions 5 to 7
Vegetarians, about 3,2% of the US population, do not eat meat. The US
Department of Agriculture does not only include meat as part of a balanced diet,
but it also states that a vegetarian diet can meet “the recommended dietary
allowance for nutrients”.
Many proponents of vegetarianism say that eating meat harms health,
waster’s resources, causes deforestation, and created pollution.
These animals should not have to die to satisfy an
unnecessary dietary preference.

5. The proponents of vegetarianism believe that …

The Halloween Kid

Burgeoning filmmaker Axelle Carolyn showed a lyrical, controlled sense

of cinema in her 2011 short film debut THE LAST POST. Now, the sometime
actress, model and author have created another work of gentle, frightening craft in
THE HALLOWED KID.
The short film features a rhyming, Edward Gorey– esque poem (penned by
Carolyn) as its script and story : a tale of a poor, put-upon little boy named Henry
who feels akin to the supernatural creatures of his imagination than the cruel,
narrow minded adults and children who permeates his world. But of course, Henry
might not be as delusional as we think and, come Halloween, he found his only
moments of respite amongst other kids, who are in fact, dead!
That’s pretty much it as far as THE HALLOWEEN KID’s narrative goes,
but like THE LAST POST, the film is not about story, rather creating a tiny,
perfectly realized universe that aims for more sensitivity than shock, more
melancholy than morbid. The music is lovely and whimsical, as in the almost
Karloff-like narration by legendary Shakespearean dramatic Derek Jacobi.

Each keyboard uses a series of switches to provide message to the
computer. The keys are nested on rubber dome switches that contain carbon in the
center. This causes each key to be pressed down and come right back up when you
do not press it anymore. Keyboards contain anywhere between 80 to 110 keys, but
there could be more. The keyboard also has a microprocessor, to respect with
which signals are passed. Regardless of how sophisticated your keyboard is,
keyboards generally use the same system for transmitting signals to the computers
that they are attached to.
When a key is pressed, the rubber dome switch pushes down in the circuit
board, making its center carbon contact touch the circuit, completing an electrical
circuit. This instructs the keyboard to send a signal. Signals from the keyboard
continue to be sent at a certain frequency, regulated by the microprocessor.
Keyboards have internal circuit boards, meaning it must pull power somewhere.
Whether a keyboard uses a USB cable or a PS/2 cable, when the computer detects
a keyboard connected, it will supply to the keyboard through the cable. Wireless
keyboard work differently in they are powered by an internal battery. The wireless
portal is powered by the computer, and a signal is shared between the tow devices,
using infrared, and radio or Bluetooth technology. However, wireless keyboards
that they both have a similar structure, sending signals when a circuit is completed
on their circuit boards. The only difference is how the signal reaches its
destination.

Analysis Synthesis Evaluation

4.3.2 Interpretation of Research Findings

The absence of application, synthesis, and evaluation can be explained

because they are not suitable for Multiple- choice form of question. Application is

more suitable for performance test. Synthesis and evaluation are more appropriate if

they are tested in form of essay because those kinds of question need to be elaborated

with some examples and opinion. Cognition domain such as synthesis and evaluation

are usually tested in examination for university students.

CHAPTER V

CONCUSION AND SUGGESTION

This chapter provides some conclusion and suggestion. The conclusions are

about the brief description of this research and its finding. The suggestions are about

the researcher’s ideas to motivate, recommend and propose the reader to continue this

study further.

5.1 Conclusion

The conclusion or brief description of this research can be drawn as follow:

1. This research is about identifying and analyzing the cognition domain of

reading comprehension in national examination for senior high school 2013

packed 1to 5.

2. Bloom’s taxonomy is knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis,

synthesis, evaluation.

3. Knowledge is defined as the remembering, recalling, or reciting of previously

learned material. Comprehension is defined as the ability to grasp the meaning

of material. Application refers to ability to use learned material in new and

concrete situation. Analysis refers to the ability to break down the material

into it component parts so that its organizational structure may be understood.

Synthesis refers to the ability to judge the value of material for a given

purpose.

4. The finding shows that domain cognition, which are examined for reading

comprehension of national, which are examined for reading comprehension

year 2013 packed 1 to 5. They are: knowledge is 105 (6o%), comprehension

is 52 (32%),application is 0(0%), analysis 13(7,4%), synthesis 0(0%) and

evaluation is 0(0%). While others (application, synthesis, and evaluation) are

null. This also means that knowledge is the most dominant cognitive domain

that has been examined in National examination.

5.2 Suggestion

1) For teachers

The most important roe of a teacher in succeeding her students in final

examination is guiding and motivating them. To guide the students to the right way,

they need to know which way should be taken. By reading this research finding,

teachers, especially those who teach the last year students, are expected to focus the

exercises on knowledge, comprehension, and analysis.

If these three cognitive domain are often trained then there is a possibility that

all students will pass the English examination since the reading comprehension of

National Examination takes 70% part compared to listening section which is only

30%, where the recent minimum score 5.5 for each subject.

Beside leading them to the right way, motivating the students is important as

well. Teach them not to cheat while examination takes place. Encourage them that by

learning more everyday they will pass the examination without worrying to find a

161
way for cheating. Because National Examination is not the end of their study, it is

just to measure their cognition, not include the psychomotor and affection and

psychomotor.

2. For Other Researcher

The researcher suggests other researcher to analyzed the next documents of

National Examination year 2013 packed 1 to 5 to the next uears. And also the scope

of this research is only for senior high school (SMA). An Analysis national

examination based on taxonomy bloom is interesting. The teacher hopes that this

paper may guide other researcher to analyze those document.
