This guide is designed to help you identify the best choices for specific applications. © Most Pellon® Interfacings are non-wovens. Non-wovens have no grain line (can be cut in any direction) and can be washed, tumble-dried, or dry-cleaned. Pellon® products can be sew-in or fusible. A “fusible” has an adhesive on one side which is activated by the heat of your iron. The fusible side is easily identifiable as it will either have small dots of adhesive (rough) or will appear shiny. Professional Tips: © Always pre-test any fusible with a sample fabric swatch before starting your project. © Hand held steamers will NOT permanently bond interfacing to fabric. © Pre-shrink fabric to remove any finishes that may prevent the fusible from penetrating. © While Pellon® non-woven interfacings do not need to be pre-shrunk, our woven products do (ex. SF101 Shape-Flex®). Follow product care instructions. * Always use a press cloth. It should be approximately the weight of a handkerchief or thin sheet. ¢ Three important elements for best results are heat, steam, and pressure. Use a spray bottle to mist your presscloth so it is damp before pressing. * Be sure to follow guidelines for pressing time and pressure when working with a fusible product. * Press firmly in place with iron for recommended number of seconds. Repeat, lifting and overlapping until all fabric is fused. ° For a stronger bond, flip project over and fuse from the opposite side.
