Is cheating a “Natural Thing?

A student is caught copying someone else’s paper during an exam. When
confronted by the teacher, the student says that he is simply doing what comes
naturally when one does not know anything about the question in the exam. Is the
student correct? What does the natural law say on this?

We all know that cheating is a choice. We students sometimes cheat for us to

survive but it’s not the natural way when one does not know anything, it's the other
way for to get good grades which he doesn't really deserve. It’s a lie when he said
“He doesn’t know anything” Because before exam happens all students have time to
review their notes and the teacher obviously discussed that. And cheating is also a
crime which students commit all the time. It is an intentional act of students who are
irresponsible in not taking their studies seriously. In the case of this caught student
to study (Naay kulang ani) His act is a natural phenomenon that if he does not know
anything, he will just cheat. It is his choice to cheat because he is irresponsible. This
would also demotivate him as regardless of how much ever he study.
There are two types of students, The one who chooses honesty and Those
who choose the latter.
Here are some related cases.
During the exam there is one person who doesn’t really know about the exam so he
asks answer to the person who sits in front of him so the student who is in front of
him took pictures of his answers then gave to the cheater. Suddenly the instructor
came in and saw what they did. Without any words, he confiscated the test paper of
the two students and ask to go out.
This case shows that no matter what you did, as long as it is cheating you yourself
will suffer the consequences.
It is important to explain the meaning of cheating in an “Academic” context.
Cheating would constitute using somebody else’s answers in an exam or using
somebody else’s homework as their work. Therefore, cheating would be constituted
as using work that is not yours. And by cheating, you are losing opportunity to get
educated properly thus making yourself in a difficult situation. Through this, we can
understand that cheating is detrimental to all the parties.
I have research some Philosophical theories. The following are:
Utilitarianism For Utilitarians who consider the consequences of repeated
behaviour upon other rules (Rule Utilitarian) there are also strong reasons to think
that acts of cheating do not produce the greatest utility or the greatest amount of
physical and emotional happiness nor does it satisfy the interest of society nor
provide for a sense of wellbeing for humanity.
Virtue Ethics- Virtue ethics is derived from the famous Greek philosophers:
Aristotle and Plato. The idea behind this theory is that the decision of what is ethical
or not depends on the person. If someone is morally virtuous, then so is the action
morally virtuous. Virtue theory suggests that rather than punishing or deterring,
humans should be guided towards being good people. According to this theory,
context is also very important so for any action we must look at the background
behind it.

Ethical Egoism- or Ethical Egoists there is the attraction to such actions in

thinking that through cheating some desirable end could be achieved with less
effort than otherwise would be required. This is the popular thought anyway.

cheating.html

The bottom line is that humans should always behave in the most morally upright
way. Although real life problems are much more complex, it is morally wrong to do
so and this is why we must avoid such actions, which could potentially corrupt our
personality.
So, in order to prevent cheating, instructors reduce the incidence of cheating by
paying specific attention to how they communicate their expectations to students, how they
prepare their exams, and how they administer their exams. The following sections provide
guidelines on these three points.
Advance Communication
-Whatever decisions you make regarding academic integrity.
Test Preparations

-Create a test that is fair to your students. Some students use an instructor's reputation
for giving “unfair” tests as an excuse to cheat. “Fair” means that the exam covers the
material that you said it would cover, that students have enough time to complete the
exam, and that its instructions are clear.

Test Administrations

Most cheating on test in large classes occurs when students are allowed to sit
wherever they choose. It should be no surprise that cheaters choose to sit near each other.
Cheating may be greatly minimized it.

Cheating is not a choice. Don’t simply rely anything on others, You can do it without
cheating. Work hard and strive for your own goals.
