History
Egypt first united the lower

in 3200 BC. Egypt attained
independence from Britain
in 1922 and then later on
gained republic status in
1953. Egypt was formerly
known as the Arab Repub-
lic of Egypt and it is locally
known as then Jumhuriyat
Misr al-Arabiyah or simply
just Misr.
